Us RED RAIDERS have been supporting Wes for a long time.
GO WES GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! West TEXAS is cheering for you!
My apologies, I thought I was dealing with an adult.
You have a real panty twist over the Patriots don't you? They aren't my team either, but I'm not going to attack a good kid because of something the coach did. You're pathetic
Yeah, I understand, I did too.
The Dolphins cut Welker to put Marcus Vick on the roster. I guess the Dolphins seen something about Welker they didn’t like because Vick is a bust.
On March 1, 2007, the Dolphins offered Welker, a restricted free agent, a second-round tender (the second-lowest tender) of $1.35 million for a one-year contract. The Patriots, who were interested in Welker, had originally considered signing Welker, a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet which Miami would have had seven days to match; according to The Boston Globe, that sheet would have contained a poison pill provision which would have made the offer difficult for the Dolphins to match.[6] Ultimately, however, the Patriots decided not to use such an offer, and traded the Dolphins their 2007 second- and seventh-round draft picks for Welker.
Moss has really grown up. I’m sure the stats play into it but late in the season teams became obsessed with stopping Moss, his numbers dropped off a lot, but he sure has thrown some blocks. I’m a Steeler fan and get to watch the best blocking receiver in the game, possibly in the history of the game, and even I must salute Moss’ performance down the stretch.
Don’t confuse him with facts! ;^)
Welker wasn't worth a "good deal" at the time. He was small time and wanted out of Miami, the Patriots got him at a bargain. Moss was also a relative bargain because of his history.
But thanks for making my point. It's also proof-positive (be it Welker, Moss or Brady for that matter) that the 1st round draft choice penalty for cheating leveled against the Pats was a joke.
Wes wasn’t cut, he was traded by Dolphins former coach Cam Cameron, who had cut Wes in San Diego.
..He is the only player in NFL history to ever have converted a field goal, converted an extra point, and fielded a punt and kick off return all in the same game. He and T.J. Houshmandzadeh shared league leader honors for receptions during the 2007 season.
Welker holds several all-time records for the Patriots and Dolphins franchises. He is the Dolphins' all-time kick off return leader, both in total returns and yardage, and their all-time leader in total punt returns (he is second in yardage).
He’s probably a T-sip or Ag who can’t handle anything successful coming from Tech.
I let my wife know all the time she graduated from that Jr. College out in Lubbock!
Haha. Man, your basketball team kicked our butts this past weekend......
Here's a hint: It has to do with the Dolphins win/loss record the past few years? And the fact that they were on the receiving end of the kick-offs a lot more than the kicking end? Think it over.
"Gee Fishy, you really don't know what you are talking about."
Sheesh, you sound like my ex-mother-in-law...
So NFL records mean nothing to you huh? If Wes was so pathetic, why did the Patriots hire him? Perhaps they saw the potential, just as the Texas Tech coach did when he offered in a position on the team when no one else wanted him.
You said his agent was shopping him around. Then you go on to say he wasn't a "good deal". So, a second rate player is courted by one of the best teams in the league. When was Welker traded and when did the scandal come out about filming the Jets? Wasn't Welker traded before all that came out? If so how could he have sold his soul? If it was after then you may have a point.
He deserves an MVP award of some type. Perhaps he will be selected the SuperBowl MVP. No one is more deserving.
He is very much like the Jets' Wayne Chrebet, who was a thorn in the Patriots side for many years. THE 'go-to' guy on that offense. Chrebet always hurt the Pats.
