McCain voted for Ruth Bader Ginsberg and has praised her as a good justice. He fought at the Supreme Court against Wisconsin Right to Life abortion protestors. He’s for embryonic stem cell research. And he thinks Alito’s too conservative.

If it’s McCain vs. Hillary, there is no pro-life candidate to vote for in November.

Ok.... Vote for Hillary.... knock yourself out if you dig rumor so darned bad. I’ll be voting for the Republican left standing.

Not long ago, I had a big old discussion with someone blasting Fred Thompson here in Freepers. We all know how well that worked out for us. What we wind up with is what we deserve.

Let's remember that President Bush's first choice for the SCOTUS was Harriet Miers. SCOTUS picks are one of the most important decisions a President makes. If McCain is truly Pro-Life, then he will nominate strict constructionists. Any nominee for the SCOTUS is checked to see if he has Conservative credentials.

Just like we have with every other President, especially Republicans, we will have to watch very carefully who a President nominates to the Court. This is no less true regarding McCain than with Romney.

“He’s not going to get elected even if he does win the GOP nomination.”

I don’t really agree with that. There is a reason the Dems are coming over to vote for him in the primaries. It’s because they can’t bring themselves to vote for Hillary or Obama.

“Let’s remember that President Bush’s first choice for the SCOTUS was Harriet Miers.”

Wrong.

Bush’s first appointment was John Roberts.

Wrong.

No, you are wrong. President Bush nominated Miers first. It was only after major political pressure that the Miers nomination was withdrawn. Roberts was nominated in her place.

Nope.

John Roberts was named first. Harriet Miers was nominated after Roberts’ nomination was bumped up to Chief.

Thanks for playing.

There has to be something or somebody to help save us from this creep.

We may need to start thinking 3rd party.

Seriously.

Romney appointed liberal judges in a liberal state.

Really? His track record was 75% liberal appointees in a state that's about 70% liberal.

Extrapolating that out, I'm assuming you'd be alright with him nominating 50% liberal judges on the federal level, given that the country's about 45% liberal.

The excuses for Flipper are beyond weak.

Face it, he's a phony liberal skunk--and you're supporting him.

We've got 10 months to go before the election.

That's plenty of time for almost anyone, The Huck, Gingrich, you, to undertake a winning campaign.

Those who dismiss the chances of any particular candidate at this time are not forward looking.

“...Not long ago the American people banded together and helped defeat amnesty. How could Senator John McCain possible become the leading GOP candidate with his radical amnesty votes, left wing leanings, and his poor health. Yesterday he fidgeted and twisted and giggled and talked to himself like a nut.

There has to be something or somebody to help save us from this creep....”

The key phrase here is “banded together.” Because we had no single candidate, our effort in this primary season was quickly balkanized by the MSM (mainly they simply ignored all of the several options we had into Oblivion).

A conservative will have to run hard and long to win the White House. It’s almost too late to start a 2012 campaign. McCain has been at this for 10 years and that’s largely why he is winning. Winning is all about ground game and you have to run and run and run. No cutesy little flirtations like Fred Thompson tried—you just get running and keep running.

Romney has a leg up on 2012 right now. I like Santorum. If we’re writing in in November, we need to write in for the person we’ve IDed as the one we want. In 1976, myself and many others wrote in for Ronald Reagan. That particular vote eventually registered. Big time.

Someone needs to get a serious write-in effort going here at Free Republic and elsewhere. It needs to be a long-range effort and focused on a for-real option, not Rush or someone who will never run.

Third party?

GOP wants to purge the party of anti amnesty voters and conservative voters to the extreme of promoting Senator John McCain who is in poor health and talks to himself. There is still a slight chance of stopping him.

John McCain acts and looks weird. It was meant as a flip comment, but somebody wondered if he has a transmitter planted in his face that sends him messages of what to say and gives him jolts of energy when he fades or nods off.

Sorry to be so tardy getting back to you but I like the third party idea a lot. Either that or a new declaration of independence from the oppressive socialist USA—if that’s what it is to irreversibly become.

There is - his name is Hussein Obama. He will clean the floor with McCain in a debate while saying nothing of consequence.

Yeah, Barack H. Obama is skilled at saying nothing. It is a charming man who says nothing against a nasty, sickly man who lies and lies and lies.
