McCain Sides With Leading Dems on Global Warming
Crosswalk (appropriate name considering how often McCain crosses the aile to stand with Dims) ^ | Unkown | Nathan Burchfiel

Posted on 02/02/2008 4:01:49 AM PST by Caipirabob

A panel discussion on global climate change Tuesday found Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) staff agreeing with representatives for the leading Democratic presidential contenders. A cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions, they agreed, is the most promising solution to "global warming."

A cap and trade system would involve limits or caps (lower than current levels) on the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions produced by polluters like power plants. But companies able to cut their CO2 output at a low cost would be able to sell their left-over pollution permits to companies facing higher costs.

John Raidt, a policy advisor to McCain, said during a discussion at the left-leaning Brookings Institution that the Arizona Republican is a "foremost proponent of carbon cap-and-trade."

Raidt said McCain supports a cap-and-trade system above taxes on carbon emissions because "cap-and-trade is a market-driven, proven way."

The position put McCain in league with leading Democratic contenders - Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina - whose policy advisors also participated in the discussion.

We know why the MSM, RINOs and Democrats wanted all the primaries held earlier and closer together:

It makes it easier to control the sheeple.

By the time Republicans who don’t keep up with politics daily figure out the real McCain, it will be too late. The Republicans are split, conservatives are marginalized and a Democrat wins the White House.

Or, even if McCain wins, conservatives are still marginalized and the Republican party moves so far left (reflecting the will of the people, of course), it becomes an ineffective Centrist party.

The Mainstream Media is very powerful. They control the flow information to the general populace. They won.

McCain clearly would have signed onto Kyoto and crippled the US ecconomy. he would then have tried to tax and fix.

No surprise there. Why anyone would vote for someone who has as much admitted that he knows diddly-squat about economics is a puzzlement to me...especially with the huge crisis of baby boomers taking their entitlements now upon us.

Not only will I not vote for John McCain, but I will do my best to discourage others from doing so.

“”It’s beginning to look as though the electorate is so brainwashed by the media that we can’t have either an intelligent debate or a real-choice-election.””

That was the purpose of McCain-Fiengold. That legislation amplified the power of the media and weakened free speech.

McKennedy...er...McCain has only demonstrated that his science IQ is right down there with his immigration IQ, his economic IQ, and his honesty quotient. He’s a slug.

There it is.

That's a shame too because of there only being a couple of ways to handle that. MSM has kinda "painted themselves into a corner."

Wouldn’t it be nice if McCain was as mean, vindictive, unyielding, uncompromising and backstabbing to Democrats as he is to members of his own party?

This is issue #17 of my "McCain Dealkiller" list.

I will _never_ vote for a candidate who prattles on about global warming.

Never, ever.

"Global warming" is the rallying cry of those who have declared war on the liberties of people in the United States and throughout the world.

If you really feel that way, then at least have the decency to call for the complete withdrawal of our troops, not only from Iraq and Afghanistan, but everywhere overseas and let what will happen happen. I have two relatives in the Marines. One is in Iraq now. The other was in second battle of Fallujah. I also have a good friend in the Army National Guard who is at Fort Irwin preparing to deploy to Iraq. The idea of Hillary/Obama as Commander In Chief dismays me beyond description.

Any human who thinks man can control climate change is mentally retarded. I find it hard to believe that John McCain thinks the United States government can do anything to control the sun’s activities. Did he truly talk about controlling the climate?

This is one conservative who will NOT rally around McCain.

Never. If he is the nominee - tough luck. If this is the choice I have, I’ll vote the lower end of the ticket, but leave the top spot open.

If I want to vote for a liberal for president, I’ll vote for a democrat.

I agree up to “they won”... they may... but we will only know come Tuesday.

So if they succeed in getting the nomination for McCain and then we lose all in Nov, who has won? I can't figure out the Republican plan here.

The ridiculous polsters keep telling the people McCain can win the moderates, the independents, the liberals. Then they talk about the Dems and they say they can win the moderates, the independents, the liberals. Scratching my head.

In 2009 my car will have a bumper sticker reading —
“Don’t blame me I didn’t vote for McCain”

I think I'll have you beat, FRiend...I'm going to make bumper stickers from my tag line.

You are soooo right on this. One of the little inconvenient facts these wackos forget to explain away is: how come the polar caps are melting on Mars?
