A pledge to never vote for McCain (Vanity)
February 5, 2008 | Tree of Liberty

Posted on 02/05/2008 10:11:11 PM PST by Tree of Liberty

If the unfortunate possibility of a McCain nomination comes to pass, I will not work for his election to the presidency, nor will I defend him in ad hoc conversations. He is wholly unworthy for that high office, and it is intolerable for my conscience to abide supporting him.

I will face two options once in the voting booth: 1) cast my ballot for a third party candidate, or 2) simply not vote in the presidential election.

I am curious who among you share my sentiments.

John McCain's ideal Supreme Court justices are those who voted to uphold his cherished legislative achievement, McCain-Feingold: Stevens, Breyer, Souter, Ginsburg and O'Connor.

I'll be voting for Obama in the primary, because he's the only viable candidate left who doesn't routinely mock and insult conservatives. And I'll be voting for the Democrat in the general, because if my choices are Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter, I'll take Carter: If the country is going to Hell in a handbasket, I damn well want a Democrat to take the fall.

"Why not third party? Staying home just tells them you don't care about politics."

There's no 3rd party here in Arizona. And I don't care about politics when there are no people I can respect who are running. The GOP can simply pound sand - for everything - if they nominate McCain. Like I said, no vote, no money, no support - for anything. Not even dogcatcher.

"He’ll never get my vote. Nor anyone within my sphere of influence."

McCain did accomplish one thing it seems. He split the party wide open. I guess it's revenge for us torpedoing his amnesty bill.

The ignorance is so stunning I chipped a tooth when I read the OP’s thread starter....

Cut and Run, that is our option, act like Anti War nut jobs, but do not claim to support the Troops.

You are living the lie if you actually believe McCain will put conservative judges on the bench. His general campaign manager, Warren Rudman (sp?), was THE GUY who recommended Souter to Bush I because he was a conservative. Do you know how Souter turned out? He was a moderate that just kept going left. I don’t trust McCain at all about this. Especially not when Rudman is running the campaign for him.

I went into this election cycle with two primary issues:

1) modernizing the US economy
2) illegal immigration.

All the other issues were ages below these two priorities in my mind.

In that sense, I can’t see myself voting for McCain. The man is incompetent when he talks about the economy. Not just wrong, but incompetent. And as for the border, well, we all know where that leads us.

I won’t be voting McCain. Ever. Especially after that little stunt he pulled in West Virginia. I demand a sense of honor in my President, and say what you want about Bush, he had it. McCain clearly does not.

I will not vote for McCain or the huckster. For the first time since 1980 I will not vote.

“Voting for McAmnesty is a surrender of conservatism. I refuse to do it.”

Then you condemn us to Hilda-bama.

I would rather hang on to the edge of the cliff, and have a fighting chance,

then let go and willingly fall into the abyss.

You take every scrap you have and you hang on and you fight back.

There will be MORE elections. Dont give up ground to Hilda-bama and their traitorous party.

I completely understand that argument. I have considered it myself. However, if McCain will replace Stevens and Ginsberg with O’Connor-like judges, that would be far better than 2 more 40 year old Ginsbergs, which would be the result under Obama or Hillary.

Will not vote for McCain no matter who he picks as VP.

Now I see that we do not count, and I wasn't blindly following anybody. Hillary said to pray for the tornado victims. But they don't want religion mixed with government. Go figure.

This is a very important point. Another Freeper wrote a long post about this last week. McCain exposed his true character in those attacks.

If it is Hillary vs. McCain I will participate in the down level voting but I will leave the Presidential vote blank.

Remember, it is better to be face to face against a bayonet than to feel a knife in the back.

"If Hillary is the Nominee and you do not do your duty to prevent her from taking office, then you are a traitor."

Glad to see a voice of reason in this insane thread.

Don’t forget he is also against waterboarding “torture” of terrorists to obtain critical info, even if it saves thousands of people.
