A pledge to never vote for McCain (Vanity)
February 5, 2008 | Tree of Liberty

Posted on 02/05/2008 10:11:11 PM PST by Tree of Liberty

If the unfortunate possibility of a McCain nomination comes to pass, I will not work for his election to the presidency, nor will I defend him in ad hoc conversations. He is wholly unworthy for that high office, and it is intolerable for my conscience to abide supporting him.

I will face two options once in the voting booth: 1) cast my ballot for a third party candidate, or 2) simply not vote in the presidential election.

I am curious who among you share my sentiments.

Do you honestly believe he would feel beholden to conservatives in any way, shape or form if we did vote for him? It would be a first.

Thank you. One would hope that each and every one of us make our decisions with that principle in mind. I simply find it reprehensible that one throws the “traitor” label around so callously and yes with invective.

Or imagine yourself as a downed bomber pilot who got himself stabbed, then hung, then taken to Hanoi for medical procedures on a broken clavical along with a fractured skull...

Err. wait a minute, there is no need to imagine./...

“No. The RINOs condemned us to that by choosing a candidate so repulsive to the Right that we cannot and will not vote for him. Don’t blame us. We tried to warn people this would happen and you squishies did it anyway.”

No.

WE all have to try HARDER and keep fighting.

And that means NEVER giving an inch to democrats,

yeah we can fight rinos too, but not at the expense of losing to democrats.

I will NEVER allow a democrat to win dog catcher if I can.

And if it means dealing with Rinos, then so be it,

They can be combated too. There are more elections.

But not at the expense of intentionally LOSING to a party that betrayed our troops in battle.

No way.

"If McCain wins, you guys will be pleading and chiding us not to go after McCain when he starts pushing his liberal agenda."

He has been pushing it for years. I guess some people never wake up.

In principle I agree with you about ‘what feels good’. I only said it to him because I’d rather have him vote than not vote at all. He’s already written off any candidates so he might as well write in a good conservative. He ain’t going to vote for McCain or any major candidate. Nobody will convince him to so vote for someone you admire instead of leaving it blank. I’d rather have someone vote for a conservative who won’t win versus leaving it blank.

not a "dime’s worth of difference" other than a R of D after the name. Put down the crack pipe and prepare for a long seige.

"Don’t not vote, write in a conservative you admire. Hell, write Rush in! It’ll make you feel good. Vote your conscience."

Rush isn't running for President. If you want to play games with the right to vote, then don't vote. You don't vote so that "It’ll make you feel good.", that is an immature outlook.

The nominee for the Democrat or Republican party will be president next year. That is reality.

Thank you for your reasonable stance, and not being childish drama queen like those that dominate this thread. I'm not sure he can be put back on track, be he sure isnt Obama or Hillary. I'm with you on this issue.

Thanks for that. We can rant and rave and post on Bob J's drinking thread, but in the end, we have to do the right thing.

I saw John Kerry on Fox News today. Muted the sound and left the room. I couldn't bear to see his smarmy arrogance. Never again. We've seen what the CLintons are capable of. WHY would we volunteer for that? For a FEELING? How fulfilling will that be once the IEDs start going off on our roadsides because the Islamonazis know the president won't respond?

Will we still feel righteous?

I don't buy the argument that Carter got us Reagan, so therefore, Clinton or Obama will get us the next Reagan. Don't forget - Carter also got us Islamofascism that was unafraid of the USA. Clinton let it continue. It took W to slow them down. They're raring to go once W's out.

Never forget that!

Sure, get it all out now. But then we've got to get it together and keep Mrs. Clinton or BHO out of OUR White House.

Hillary/Obama will replace Stevens and Ginsburg and Roe V Wade will be safe for anther 10 years.

People should hold there horses until the fall, and stop acting like knee-jeck libs, to see how this plays out.

I agree with you. I will have to hold my nose to vote for him, but I believe as a practicing Catholic to vote pro life wherever possible. Hillary and Barrack are beyone anything that considers human life sacred. If you can’t consider life sacred, then what the heck are you good for.

Exactly. McCain should know better. That he doesn’t speaks to his lack of mental cohesiveness.

Ah, JC Watts or Michael Steele would be good VP candidates for whoever runs for the GOP.

Remember how they treat you today. If McCain wins, the same treatment awaits us when we try to stop McCain’s liberal agenda. Shut up, you’re insignificant, I’m the leader, you gotta get behind me cuz where are you gonna go? Get behind me now, early, so I can reward you with a little treat for being a good dog.

I would rather be burned any day of the week. Burns heal. The damage that Hillary will do to this country will not.

No difference. By the time McLame is through, there will be so many illegals made legal that libs will have added 20-30 million to their voting rosters. McLame hates the conservative aspects of the Republican party and wants to castrate it...not burn it. I will vote, but probably for a third party candidate.
