A pledge to never vote for McCain (Vanity)
February 5, 2008 | Tree of Liberty

Posted on 02/05/2008 10:11:11 PM PST by Tree of Liberty

If the unfortunate possibility of a McCain nomination comes to pass, I will not work for his election to the presidency, nor will I defend him in ad hoc conversations. He is wholly unworthy for that high office, and it is intolerable for my conscience to abide supporting him.

I will face two options once in the voting booth: 1) cast my ballot for a third party candidate, or 2) simply not vote in the presidential election.

I am curious who among you share my sentiments.

Please see earlier post

MaCane has not completely destroyed free-speech yet, but I see you and he are working on it.

If we lose the White House, we truly will have betrayed them.

You need to get a grip, the war in Iraq is all but over with.

Which is to say, you’re ok with a Hillary Presidency.

Well, if she winds up being as effective as she was with national health care and energizing the conservative base, I say let's go with Hillary. Besides, the last woman given a position of power proved not to be up to the task (Pelosi).

The federalist society, headed by Calabresi, endorsed McCain as the candidate most likely to appoint constructionalist justices.

I trust Mark Levin's judgement on issues of justices more than I do an entire organization like the FS that's been watered down by squishes....just lke the RNC has been, and McLame gets the thumbs down from Levin.

"Be prepared to hear these words: “President McCain”."

I sincerely hope never to hear that phrase. The man does not deserve it and the damage will take decades to heal

"...Why does the phrase, “Who is John Galt?” Keep coming to mind? "

And it's scandalous to put John McCain and John Galt in the same thought. John McCain is no John Galt

I’m also thinking about the next war.

I keep seeing a bumper sticker here in the Bay Area:

“I’m Already Against the Next War.”

I will not vote for John McCain. Period. I’ll vote for a third party, or I will vote for Obama or Hillary before I vote for McCain.

You’re welcome.

I served in Vietnam and McCain’s success in the Navy was due to his dad serving as an admiral in the Atlantic / Med. Not in the 5 planes he lost.

McCain blocked a recent attempt to reinstate the fairness doctrine: “Arizona Sen. John McCain has introduced federal legislation to protect talk radio shows from the reinstatement of past rules that required dissenting voices be given equal time on their shows.”— Phoenix Business Journal 6/2007.

But he’s against free speech. Whatever you say.

Agree... Obama and Hillary will be social and economic disasters and will reduce the national defense to a joke.

This tread is the “cut your nose off despite your face” rant vehicle.

MCain is not everything I want but he stands well above the alternatives... both of them.

Hillary will stack the courts with Judges that will make Ginsburg look conservative!!

Not necessarily. If the GOP stands on principle they can hold up any and all of her radical liberal judges.

I share your sentiments. In all likelihood, McCain and Clinton will likely follow the same domestic policies. McCain isn't a conservative. He's been a very weak candidate whose wins have powered by liberals and moderates backing his candidacy. He hasn't brought the party together. And a lot of conservatives are looking for the exit in this election. He'll use us as a prop until he wins and then push us back into the closet as President. That's not what conservatives have in mind over the next four years. I'm not going to sell out my principles just see to see Democrat Lite policies in this country destroy the Republican Party. If we must have leftist policies, I'd rather have the responsibility come from the Democrats.

McCain will not get my vote, no matter who the other candidates are.

There is a word for people who would harm their country to spite their political party. It begins with 'A' and ends with 'hole.'
