Shuster: Rush and Hannity Don't Matter

With Joe Scarborough away, the cats did play during the opening segment of today's Morning Joe . . .
WILLIE GEIST [facetiously]: David, I know how you like to speak for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the rest of that group.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: He's going to the [CPAC] convention.
GEIST: You're the voice of that community, but can you make sense out of this? Are they willing, the conservatives, the Limbaughs, the Hannitys of the world, to concede the election, to not have John McCain be president, to take Hillary Clinton over them, just to take a principled stand?

Shuster claims Rush and Sean don’t matter, Republicans sick of Bush-Cheney. Ping to Today show list.

Agreed. I will not vote for the Democrat, McCain, who is about to receive the GOP nominaton. Johnny Mac nearly became a Democrat twice, in ‘01 and ‘04. Had Kerry made the deal a little sweeter McCain would have run with him last time.
I can forgive a lot of things, but McCain’s flirtation with our opponents is not one of them. Not to mention McCain’s terrible record as a liberal on the big issues.

I cannot see Hannity or Rush getting behind McCain. If they do, it would be the end of talk radio for me. I’d rather have a Dem President and rally the Conservative base and get back to our grassroots effort for the next election, than to have McCain dragging the entire party further left, with his RINO/Liberal agenda.

The logic in this statement is the same one that got us to where we are right now. It is the reason the GOP lost the leadership in the House and Senate and will probably lose the White House.

Things change. Yes they do. Who expected to be here at this point? A lot can happen that will change the landscape between now and the election. Things are not static. One or more members of the supremes could keel over, McCain could keel over, McCain could blow it by showing everyone his a$$ publically by losing it at conservatives, a last minute al queda attack as payback to GW before he leaves office. Any of these things and others could alter the equation.

Rush was talking about the three-legged stool that the conservatism candidates need to adhere to. Something none of these talk show hosts talk about is homosexuality. The debauchery that has permeated our culture and more sinisterly, our schools. Rush and Hannity promote Romney while it flourished under his administration is not conservatism. I would've supported Romney in spite of this, but I'm not that broken up he lost. Step back people, our country is in more dire peril than the next election cycle.

This ain't us.

From the article,
"So I'm not sure some of those conservatives are going to come over, but again, I don't think the Sean Hannitys and the Rush Limbaughs of the world matter at this point. I think their value is overstated in their own minds, and I think it's going to matter far more what the rank-and-file want, and the rank-and-file Republicans are sick and tired of Bush and Cheney and they want somebody who can unite the country. I think that's why you're seeing so many Republicans and independents cross over to Barack Obama; I think that's why independents are crossing over to help John McCain: because they don't want the partisan bickering to continue to the detriment that it has."
Huh? The rank and file Rep. are sick of Bush and Cheney, so they're flocking to McCain and Obama? I think Shuster's value is overstated in his own mind.

There will be a heavy price though. We will allow Clinton/Obama to replace all the old hag liberals on the Supreme Court with young ones. There are two liberals who probably can't make it through another term, and the two others aren't that far behind. The liberals are on the ropes on the Supreme Court, and one Democratic president can turn back our progress 25 years.

“just to take a principled stand?”
Only the knee-jerk liberals would, with seeming incredulity, question the validity of taking a principled stand. Obviously a notion foreign to them.
