Earlier in the campaign Huckabee feigned ignorance and in a speech to some evangelicals he stated something like “isn’t it true that Mormons think that Jesus is Satan’s brother,” deliberately taking some LDS doctrine out of context. He got slammed for it at the time as over the top.

Thanks. I am a student of the Bible so I wouldn’t know if the statement was out of context or not. I know Zero about the LDS doctrine.

“he stated something like “isn’t it true that Mormons think that Jesus is Satan’s brother,” deliberately taking some LDS doctrine out of context”

Mormons DO believe that Jesus and Satan, both created beings to mormons, are spirit brothers.

... which, of course, if false.

What really happened, if anyone cares about the truth around here when attacking Huckabee, is that he was interviewed by a NY Times reporter. He said they talked for a long time, and the reporter kept asking about religion. He said the reporter seemed to have dome a lot of research about Mormonism, so when they were taking a break, he asked him about the "Jesus and Satan" thing, which he had heard about but didn't know where it came from. He thought it was just an honest question asked off the record. When the story came out, the focus of the entire story was, "HUCKABEE CLAIMS MORMONS THINK JESUS AND SATAN ARE BROTHERS!" In other words, it was a typical NY Times hit piece on a Republican. But it is repeated endlessly and unquestioningly around here, along with every other slanted and unsourced hit piece that burbled up out of the sewer during an election year.

Hey Huckabee’s quote that the Romney believes that Jesus and Satan are brothers was not ‘out of context”. It’s what Mormons believe.

They also believe every man will die and inherit their own planet with numerous wives.

Suspiciously like another cultic religion we all know and hate.

Oh, they also believe that one of the lost tribes of Israel got on boats and came to America and that the American Indians are really... Jewish.

The reason they have so much genealogical information is that they fear for their ancestor’s souls. They perform proxy for the dead baptisms for all their dead relatives.

I could go on and on. Just put it this way, Mormonism is not Christian and Huckabee was trying to make that very very clear.
