WASHINGTON, Feb 16 (Reuters) - Democrats accused U.S. President Bush on Saturday of fanning terrorism fears shamelessly as he was about to lose certain authority to wiretap foreign suspects without a court warrant.
Bush, for his part, flailed the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives for what he called putting U.S. security at risk for political motives in an election year.
The Democratic leaders of the House and Senate, responding to a Republican blitz on the issue, said there should be no question in anyone's mind that U.S. intelligence agencies retained the right to take "all actions necessary to protect" U.S. security.
"For anyone to suggest otherwise is irresponsible and totally inaccurate," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California said in a joint statement.

Zarkawi had no problem operating in Iran in spite of his avowed hatred of Shi’ites who, after entering Iraq, he massacred at every opportunity.”

On January 30, French security services raided a Paris apartment and arrested six Arab men. Three of the men - two Lebanese and one Syrian - were travelling on diplomatic passports. According to the Italian Libero newspaper, the six were members of a Hizbullah cell. Documents seized included tourist maps of Paris, London, Madrid, Berlin and Rome marked up with red highlighter to indicate routes, addresses, parking lots and "truck stopping points." The maps pointed to several routes to Vatican back entrances.
First, note the following: "Three of the men - two Lebanese and one Syrian - were travelling on diplomatic passports."

The use of diplomatic passports turns this into a different beast for European tradition as well. It further inflames the crime of the conspiracy and raises it to certainty in their eyes. There may even be treaty language that equates this as if it were successful and if so, could trigger some pretty interesting mobilizations.

On Sept 11, 2001 - the Dems cried out why the dots were not connected! The First was the Gorlick 'WALL' that prevented interaction between CIA and FBI. The second reason was that the dems didn't want to update the laws for monitoring terrorists that were based upon the old rotary dial phone era. The blood will be on the Dems hands if this results in our intel not being able to collect the data needed to stop the next attack.
