DAYTON, Ohio (AP) Spike Lee told a crowd at the University of Dayton to "do the right thing" in this year's presidential election.
"We are living in some very exciting times," Lee said Monday. "And the months leading up to the election in November will determine which way this country is going to go; forward or backward. It's up to you to do the right thing."
He said he supports Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination.
Dressed in a sweater, jeans and ball cap, Lee spoke of growing up in New York City, being a fairly average student at Morehouse College in Atlanta, and becoming a director.
"At first, I didn't know that people actually made movies," Lee said of his childhood. "We would go to the movies on the weekend and stay until our parents dragged us out.
"I didn't decide to become a filmmaker until I went to college. But I did realize that the richness of the African-American experience that I saw on the corner every day was not on the screen."
Last week, Lee was in Columbus to receive the $50,000 Wexner Prize that recognizes innovation, quality and integrity among artists.
Maybe he had better stick with peddling shoes and putting out his “art”.
“Frankly, there is no difference between Jesse, Al and Obama.”
Remember though, Joe Biden reminded us that once is in fact cleaner than the other two.
Someone needs to do a spoof video ‘Obama Fever” to the tune of Jungle Fever
“Spork” Lee would vote for a convicted serial killer if said serial killer was of the correct skin tone and political persuasion.
Sheldon Lee is backing him? I’m shocked!
Well now, there’s a surprise: a black racist supporting a black racist. Minister Obama is on a roll.
25th hour and Inside Man were terrific. And if you ignore the the hints of goverment conspiracy drivel ‘When the Levees Broke’ was very well crafted and observant.
I’M SHOCKED !!!! I NEVER thought Spike Lee would support a BLACK person.
He could have probably used this before the NY primary.
Nice timing Spike!
He couldn't be more right... Putting Obama or Clinton into the White House would be a big step backwards. I'll reserve judgment on the other alternative(s)...
The sun rose in the east this morning; it's expected to set in the west again.
When presented with facts, liberals call you names.
Another bubble-headed female orgasmed & fainted at the mere thought that she was sharing the same planet with Obama.
The Law of Gravity is still in effect...
What is it with celebrities that think we care who they're voting for?
Spike Lee? Endorsing Malcolm O? C’mon, you’re putting us on...
I know I always wait ‘til I hear from Hollyweird before I cast my vote...
Well like Gomer says, “Suprise Suprise Suprise.”
Congrats, dude...you’re on the front page of LGF!
But...but...but... O'bama is CLEAN and ARTICULATE.
Joltin' Joe tole me so!
One dumba** backing another dumba**.
Gosh I’m so surprised I’m positively discombobulated!!
