Chris Matthews Scoffs at 'Irrelevant' Rush Limbaugh
NewsBusters ^

Posted on 02/21/2008 12:19:51 PM PST by RatherBiased.com

Appearing on Thursday's 1pm hour of MSNBC News Live, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews couldn't resist taking a few swipes at Rush Limbaugh. After anchor Peter Alexander played a clip of the conservative talk show host discussing the New York Times story on John McCain, Matthews irritably claimed, "Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant here. Irrelevant. He doesn't know anything more than what he read in the New York Times."

The radio clip, from todays edition of Limbaugh's program, featured the host urging the presidential candidate to learn a lesson from the front-page New York Times story speculating about a improper relationship with a D.C. lobbyist. In the clip, Limbaugh argued that Republicans should learn never to trust the liberal-leaning news media as they will always turn to help Democrats.

Matthews's apparent annoyance at Limbaugh might have something to do with being mentioned in the clip. At one point during the monologue, Limbaugh asserted, "[McCain] has thought Chris Matthews and these other people in the drive-by media, are his friends. They aren't."

Could it be that Chrissy needs a reminder of how many listen to Rush every day and how many watch him??

Limbaugh asserted, "[McCain] has thought Chris Matthews and these other people in the drive-by media, are his friends. They aren't."

As President Truman once said 'If you want a friend in Washington ... get a dog.'
Truman was a old school democrat of course, certainly not that popular during his years in office, but history has been kind to him ... deservedly so.

Give Matthews credit. Somehow, he keeps getting them to give him shows, even though no one watches them.
If I were Rush, I’d tell Chris Matthews to “shut up before I hit you with my wallet and give you a concussion.”

The flea thinks the elephant is irrelevant. Too funny.

Now, there's no reason to bring Rush's weight in to this.

I found Rush by accident in the summer before Clinton was first elected and have been a devoted listener since.
I get him here in Slovakia via WABC online.
Chris Mathews? Who is he? I gather he is some jerk on cable TV..the one they call Chrissy?
I have not seen US TV in three years. I don’t miss it at all.

Chris Matthews Scoffs at ‘Irrelevant’ Rush Limbaugh...

Said the guy who pulls in about 800,000 listeners/viewers a day about the guy who pulls in between 13 and 20 million listeners per day.

You know Chris, you are one space cadet there fella.

“Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant...”, said the imminently, imminently, imminently, relevant Chris Matthews.

I love Rush, but he urged the GOP faithful to vote against John McCain, and MCCain is never the less winning nomination.
It is no surprise this will be used to claim Rush is irrelevant. By the left, and even many on the right.

Didn’t Crissy want to be a substitute host for Rush awhile back?

Why would he want to sub in for someone who’s irrelevant?

He did sub for Rush! It was early 2000, and he lied and said, "I don't know who I'll vote for! I really like Bush and Gore equally!"

How can he be such an ignoramus and make more money than me?

Because making money has to do with creating value for others and not your own innate merits...and there are plenty of liberals who value Matthews telling them what they want to hear. ;)

Those who don’t read the NY Times are uninformed.
Those who DO read the NY Times are misinformed.

800,000 is giving him way too much credit.
From what I have read, the number is more like 300,000.

That’s because he secretly wanted Bernard Sanders (Socialist Party).

Good thing for Chrissy is that Obama’s voting record is to the left of Sanders’.

Well, at least he honestly believes that Rush is retarded, because that would be what it would take for Rush to take Crissy up on that offer. That, along with Crissy’s thigh thrills, and his obliviousness to how wierd saying that made him look, combines to make me think Prissy Crissy Thigh Thrills has a screw lose. He and Keith Olbermann need to team up and do a show piped only into insane asylums, psychologist office waiting rooms, and the homes of people under house arrest.

So basically Mathews agrees that the “fairness doctrine” is unnecessary?
