One can never be too careful... Part of the difficulty is that there are some FReepers who would post just such a comment, with no sarcasm intended. It has become quite challenging to discern without knowing the poster. :-(
Perhaps a personal policy of "it's sarcasm until proven otherwise" would be prudent.

Years ago, I was at an event where the U.S. Secret Service was providing protection for Corazon Aquino when she was president of the Philippines. People who wanted to listen to her speak had to have tickets for the event, and had to walk through a magnetometer.
A guy who looked like a college student with his girlfriend walked through the magnetometer, then said to her, “Well, they missed the gun I’m carrying.” He wasn’t carrying a gun, but I guess he thought it would be funny to say something like this to his girlfriend.
Secret Service personnel swarmed this idiot, slammed him into a wall, searched him, tore up his ticket, and threw him out.
