If he plans to defund all unproven missile defense systems, that would include all new systems because they are all unproven at the beginning. Did he really consider what he was saying?

The following is from something I wrote prior to the 2004 election. The names may change but the intent is pretty much the same. Firing up the wayback machine...

They want to stop the Strategic Defense Initiative, S.D.I., when we are on the verge of putting up a workable missile defense to protect us from sneak attacks from such rogue states as Iran and North Korea, both of which have submarines, sophisticated missile technology, and a hatred of the United States, countries that may soon acquire nuclear weapons. In the aftermath of the first World Trade Center bombing, it was estimated that the economic impact from just having the WTC buildings closed to business for the month after the attack came in at over a billion dollars. According to a report issued by the New York City Comptroller’s office on Oct. 4, 2001, the second WYC attack was estimated to cost the city 105 billion dollars. The economic loss from losing one of our cities to a nuclear attack would be in the trillions, the human loss would be staggering. SDI may be expensive, but the alternative is unthinkable.

The Democratic candidate has a particularly consistent record on defense issues. He voted to kill the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the M-1 Abrams Tank, every aircraft carrier laid down from 1988 on, the Aegis anti aircraft system, the F-15 Strike Eagle, the Block 60 F-16, the P-3 Orion upgrade, the B-1, the B-2, the Patriot Anti Missile System, the FA-18 and the F117, among others. In short, he voted to kill virtually every military appropriation for the development and deployment of every weapons systems since 1988, including battle armor for our troops fighting in Iraq. This is the record of the man who wants to be Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

Aside from weakening our military readiness, saving money by cutting spending on military and aerospace research has exactly the opposite effect in the long run. It has been shown that, for every dollar spent on research and development in exotic technologies returns double the investment in the short term and as much as a ten to twenty times return in the long term. Military and aerospace research from the 1950’s and 1960’s not only gave us Teflon and Tang, but the integrated circuit that allows everybody to put a computer on their desktop, communication satellites, the Internet, advanced medical technology, the jet airplane and a whole laundry list of industries that didn’t even exist twenty or thirty years ago. To cut today’s research and development programs would not only harm our national security in the long term, it would deprive our next generation of new marvels of technology.

Obama is the natural bearer of the Communist plans to subvert this nation until we are a communist controlled dictatorship. His four basic plans fit nicely into the plans of the American Communist Party from the 1950s.

Lenin would be so proud!

McCain has too much “respect” for Obama to point this out. Now if Obama were a Republican you better believe McCain would be all over this.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of typing that. (For once, I decided to read ahead some before posting. :)

You got it in one. The guy is a snake in sheep's clothing -- one of those snakes that eats its own young.

Or maybe he read that stuff about "love thy enemies" and concluded that the rest of the story had to be, "and hate your friends."

The time to stop them is now, not when they come for you with the Socialist States of America "Constitution" behind them.

Here's quarter...go buy a clue!

OK, what do you suggest smart ass? Do I gun them down before they get started?

Set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons

Quite an anbitious young man, isn't he -- but perhaps he should try the "first things first" program. You know, "finish what's on your plate before you start your dessert."

Maybe after he finishes getting the country "without drugs" -- and then, "without thirty million illegal Mexican invaders" -- he can start thinking about getting the world rid of things that all the tinhorn dictators are flogging their nuts out to obtain -- and use?

And this begs the question of how he's planning on imposing that on "the world" without a strongarm military, inserted into literally hundreds of countries?

The man talks nonsense -- but the people lap it up.

Frankly, I find his charm, his charisma, his ability to draw huge crowds, who will listen -- and cheer -- while he drones on for hours on end (while saying nothing at all) to be chillingly reminiscent of another "leader" who came up from nothing, and stole the hearts of a nation of disaffected people looking for "hope" and "change" -- change that "they could believe in."

Yes, he stole their hearts, alright -- right before he stole their lives.

The world is still recovering from the havoc that "man of hope" wreaked on civilization a bit over a half-century ago. I guess in Santayana-time, that's one full cycle.

Note to the P-Nut Gallery -- go ahead, "godwin me" -- I don't give a f'n f. Been sick like a dog for about a month, and every time I think I'm getting better, I go down for the count again. Damn, this sucks -- but not nearly as much as watching the culmination of decades of effort, all neatly wrapped up in The Mother of All Hobson's Choices.

Hitlary? McCrazy? The-man-with-a-last-name-one-letter-removed-from-our-greatest-foe? (And a middle-name identical to our second-greatest foe?) That alone ought to be good for oodles of funnyspeak, but none dare call it humor.

That's some catch, that catch-22.

Nice set-up, I must admit. But, I won't be playing that game. On election day, I'll stay home, and read a good book, or watch "The Manchurian Candidate," or go fishing. Nothing like frying up a big mess of panfish to get one's mind where it belongs -- on his belly! (And with Ol' Sol heading into a re-do of the Maunder Minimum, I suspect there'll be an awful lot of that on peoples minds over the next few years...)

If I can't buy a DVD of The Manchurian Candidate by then, I've still got my VHS of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."

One thing I promise: I will NOT be bullied into voting for a ringer. I will NOT play that game. I will NOT cave to the fools who tell me that unless I choose my poison, I deserve to die. (And as metaphors go, I think that's fairly apt. When presented with two -- or three -- untenable options, to refuse to pick which one to endure is NOT tantamount to "deserving" any of them, nor does it in any way obviate my RIGHT to bitch about the outcome after the nightmare sets in.)

Dittos on advice to McCain. if he does not go after Obama on his ‘merits’; he and ‘we’ are doomed. Would think RNC would be on the case as well, working against those who pose a serious threat to our country.

Surely, those who threaten our nation here at home; deserve the same scrutiny and fealess exposure and opposition as do those terrorist we face around the world.

Obama - the man who imagines himself 'messiah' IS DANGEROUS.

He needs to be exposed and defeated. If Obama wins; America may be irrecoverable. . .And McCain should begin his Campaign here, with Obama's own words; of which they are plenty that are damning evidence.
