Pew Poll: 20% of White Democrats Vote McCain If Obama Is The Nominee
Pew Poll ^ | February 28 2008 | Pew Poll

Democratic Base Fissures

Although attention has been focused on McCain's problems with the GOP base, there are indications that some Democrats might defect if Obama is the party's nominee. Overall, 20% of white Democratic voters say they would vote for McCain if Obama is the Democratic nominee. That is twice the percentage of white Democrats who say they would support McCain in a Clinton-McCain matchup. Older Democrats (ages 65 and older), lower-income and less educated Democrats also would support McCain at higher levels if Obama rather than Clinton is the party's nominee.

20% is the number of people who actually admitted to it. The real number is higher.

NO. I differ. Today we had a big blowup in Texas with an elderly Clinton supporter haranging Obama about being black. There is a huge division between hispanics supporting clinton and blacks supporting obama. let them go at each other for another six months.

you write: (For the record, even though I can’t support McCain, I sure as heck won’t be voting for the hard-core socialist Obama. But there are a bunch of people who will, out of protest.)

A whole bunch, eh? Name both of them...

Obama per se is not the guy to be concerned with. What poses the problem is how he gets ahead - promoted by worshiping MSM that suppresses any review of his actual politics and his actual ways and any damaging info about his candidacy.

It’s not him who is tough to beat. It’s just hard to beat anyone, no matter how weak he or she is, when you yourself are muzzled and your hands are tied. So far, his promoters muzzle opposition with impunity.

The MSM will use this to try to shame people into voting Obama...you are “racist” if you don’t.

The People will tell pollsters that they are voting Obama then vote differently. Causing a huge November surprise. Besides using the race card will only make matters worse.

"The best thing for the Republicans is for Obama to finish Hillary Clinton now. All what the evil woman needs to do if she is the nominee is to win Ohio and she is going to be President."

Agreed!

Forgot to add that not only did they say they would not vote for Barak, but that they would vote for McCain.

Heck, even during the focus group that Luntz did the other day, four people in the group said that they might vote for McCain.

Hillary Clinton denounces anti-black supporter
Staff Reporter (elderly hispanic lady gives obama hell)

Posted February 28, 2008 5:52 PM

Sen. Hillary Clinton today rejected and denounced what some considered racist comments from one of her Hispanic supporters in Texas. Clinton supporter Adelfa Callejo had told the media that black politicians have done nothing for Hispanics and that Barack Obama “simply has a problem that he happens to be black.”

The 84-year-old Dallas Latina leader said that “when the blacks had the numbers, they never did anything to support us. ... There’s a lot of hurt feelings about that. And I don’t think we’re going to get over it anytime soon.”

In a separate interview Wednesday night, Callejo seemed to repeat the assertion to The Dallas Morning News even as she seemed to distance herself from her own words. “I have been told by a lot of people that they did not trust him because he is black,” she said. “They don’t trust him because of the local people. But that is minor, compared to his lack of experience. The most important thing is that there is no track record with him with Hispanics,” she said. Callejo then added: “I don’t think it is fair that that feeling exists.”

and they will lie at the exit polls and say the pulled the lever for obama and then the exit polls won’t match up with the votes and the lefties will be screaming “they stole our presidency”!

I don’t believe that for a minute. No conservative or Republican I know will pull the lever for Obama. I think that during these next few months so much will come out regarding Obama’s leftist agenda that most Republicans/conservatives will vote GOP in this election.

Bottom line... there is racism in the world. There are some folks who would never vote for Obama or any black man. There are also some folks who will vote for Obama JUST because he’s black. Racism works both ways - get over it.

If Hillary Clinton wins Texas and Ohio by a big margin she is going to be the nominee on March 5th and without any fight at the convention. If Hillary Clinton is the nominee she has more than 50% chance of becoming President, let us not play with death.

I mentioned this earlier. The actual amount would be much higher. In caucus states the Obama people use a combination of unanimous Black support and shaming/scaring white voters into going along. I have heard of this firsthand from disgusted college friends who are Democrats. They tell me if Obama wins the nomination they will vote for Nader or McCain, they are THAT disgusted by the heavy-handed race tactics of the Obama people.

Rendell said McCain can compete in both the Philly suburbs and western PA. He’ll do very well among white Democrats, especially white male Democrats which are populous in both of those areas. At the very least, McCain will make Obama spend time and money in a state that he MUST have. There’s also the possibility that Rendell won’t crank up the machine all the way for Obama the way he might for Hillary.
