“Has there ever been a time when chewing gum or trading candy was allowed in school? I recall kids getting sent to the principles office back in the ‘50s and early ‘60s.”

You never heard of candy sales in schools for raising money for class trips, etc.? We used to have those once or twice a year.

In my Catholic school in the 50s candy was sold by the school at every recess!
