Barack Obama is preparing to deliver a major address Tuesday on race, politics and unifying the country after being hounded by questions about his relationship to a pastor whose sermons have been laced with anti-American invective.
In a speech whose religious significance could compare to one given in December by former GOP presidential hopeful and Mormon Mitt Romney, Obama may be forced to explain the philosophy of the 8,000-strong Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where the Democratic presidential candidate has been a congregant for 20 years.
In announcing the morning address, to be delivered in Philadelphia, Obama would not say specifically what he will discuss, but suggested he wants to cool down the atmosphere after incendiary remarks by his pastor, retired Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., blanketed the airwaves over the past week.

Has anyone in the press been saying that this is his “Sista Soulja” moment?
They used the term for the last several election cycles. It would be interesting to see if they shun this word since Obama is black.

I also like how my supporters claim my youthful drug use and criminal behavior somehow qualifies me for the Presidency after 8 years of claiming Bush’s youthful drinking disqualifies him. Your hypocrisy is a beacon of hope shining over a sea of political posing.
I would also like to thank the Kennedy’s for coming out in support of me. There’s a lot of glamour behind the Kennedy name, even though JFK started the Vietnam War, his brother Robert illegally wiretapped Martin Luther King, Jr. and Teddy killed a female employee he was having an extra marital affair with who was pregnant with his child. And I’m not going anywhere near the cousins, both literally and figuratively.
And I’d like to thank Oprah Winfrey for her support Her love of meaningless empty platitudes will be the force that propels me to the White House.
Americans should vote for me, not because of my lack of experience or achievement, but because I make people feel good. Voting for me causes some white folk to feel relieved of their imagined, racist guilt.
I say things that sound meaningful, but don’t really mean anything because Americans are tired of things having meaning. If things have meaning, then that means you have to think about them.
Americans are tired of thinking. It’s time to shut down the brain, and open up the heart. So when you go to vote in the primaries, remember don’t think, just do.
And do it for me.

How is it he took his children to hear such hate - all of their young lives - if he himselve didn’t share the same views? That had to be the message he wanted them to hear because that was his choice.

Every network will compare him to Martin Luther King tonight. A remarkable, stirring, passionate address of the ills of this country. To make such a speach takes great courage and leadership...blah...blah...blah.

Look for the media to give him a pass after this speech, saying it has “been addressed by Obama”. Out of fear, the Drive Bys will no longer speak about Obama’s racist America-blasting church.

The UnRev. Wright Affair, with his 9/11 is our fault, white people are bad and G-D America attacks do two ireperable things.
1: They scare the Soccer Mons and the other 20% ANY candidate needs to win the General/
2: After watching Wright, Obama’s speech making seems very ho-hum by comparison.
Like many candidates in the Dem primaries over the years, what propels them in the primary fatally gores them in the General.
Maybe he’ll say he wants his 20K back from the church, he’s divorcing Mrs. Bitterness and has decided to embrace the “white” side of his heritage, in honor of his mother and his grandparents.
Doubtful.
We’ll probably get a concentrated dose of the platitudes complete with a large side of super-swooning Obamabots in the periphery.

Oh no Oprah went a few times some years back and then abruptly stopped going there. I’m sure she realized it’d destroy her (and I hope she absolutely didn’t like what was being preached).

My take. If Barack cannot do this in 10-12 minutes tops he is done for. Might be done for anyway, but if he drones on for 30-40 minutes his numbers will sink like a rock.
Should be interesting though.
I wonder if Hillary is going to demand equal time.

I listened to Bill Clinton last night on Greta. Boy, is he slick. He blamed the entire Florida fiasco on the Republicans. I expected as much but then he said that there will be no re-vote because the Republicans refused to allow The Democrats to do it. It amazes me that no Democrat can take responsibility for themselves. Every one is a victim.
Wow...so will Obama appear with Oprah soon to help resolve this issue? Oprah has to respond soon; perhaps they are strategizing?
I think lots of people believe taking on obama is easier than hillary because it’s not just hill, but bill and their entire stinking corrupt machine.
I think more than being a radical, obama is more of a wimp. He appeases rather than stands up to the controversy. He does whatever his wife tells him. He says no when it comes to facing real challenge and instead says, “can’t we all just get along???”
I doubt he shares all the views of this wild maniacal reverund wright, but he has no backbone to say its wrong either and goes along to get along.

If Clinton is upset about FL Republicans he can pretty much blame himself for the Dems crashing in the south and FL in particular. It was on his watch that they lost the governorship, and state legislature I think. Now FL is considered pretty solidly Republican. As the saying goes, he who has the power gets the glory. It’s this “victimhood” that appeals to so many whose goal in life appears to be the blamegame.
Obama will copy this speech, substitute black and white in place of catholic and non-catholic.
