Gov. Paterson says he may have used campaign cash for hotel hookup
DAILY NEWS ^ | March 20th 2008 | BEN LESSER

Gov. Paterson admitted Wednesday he may have improperly billed his campaign for at least one hotel tryst with a girlfriend.

The hotel tryst was apparently listed as "constituent services."

A Daily News review found that in a handful of other campaign expenditures, Paterson may have used campaign funds to cover personal expenses and misstated their purpose in public disclosure forms.

The records also show he made reimbursements, but he acknowledged he may have failed to pony up in one instance.

A campaign payment to Lila Kirton, a high-ranking state employee who was one of his paramours, was listed as "professional services" - which is supposed to refer to legal advice, accounting or speechwriting.

Kirton, 49, of White Plains, is the only woman whose name has been confirmed by Albany sources.

She hasn't responded to calls for comment, and co-workers said they didn't see her yesterday at her $150,000-a-year job in Paterson's Office of Intergovernmental Affairs...

Paterson met privately with Mayor Bloomberg at City Hall yesterday and they held a joint news conference.

Before Bloomberg cut off questions about the affairs, Paterson was asked if he had any regrets about his revelations.

The difference between those girls and the rest of us in all these cases, is that the girls got paid.

If he is admitting this one encounter at such an early stage in this scrutiny, surely there is a whole iceburg under the water we are not seeing.

It’s just never-ending with these losers. They’re all about themselves, always have been, always will be.

As of new Joe Bruno is next in the chain unless a new Lt. Governor is selected and confirmed soon.

We all knew that NYS government is corrupt and should be completely disbanded. This just proves the point, it has now become irrefutable.

Never, never, never EVER give your hard earned money to politicians. We dont’ know where it goes for sure but lately...it doesn’t look good. We quit giving a long time ago. Let them get their own money.
