Mark Steyn: So much for the 'post-racial' candidate
OC Register ^ | 22 March 08 | MARK STEYN

Posted on 03/22/2008 4:22:37 AM PDT by Laverne

"I'm sure," said Barack Obama in that sonorous baritone that makes his drive-thru order for a Big Mac, fries and strawberry shake sound profound, "many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed." Well, yes. But not many of us have heard remarks from our pastors, priests or rabbis that are stark, staring, out-of-his-tree, flown-the-coop nuts. ...snip...

It is Barack Obama's choice to entrust his daughters to the spiritual care of such a man for their entire lives, but in Philadelphia the senator attempted to universalize his peculiar judgment – to claim that, given America's history, it would be unreasonable to expect black men of Jeremiah Wright's generation not to peddle hateful and damaging lunacies. Isn't that – what's the word? – racist? So much for the post-racial candidate.

Maybe this will mark the start of the media taking a good hard look at itself and realizing how over- the- top they have been.

I only wish you were right but from the looks of their collective balance sheets they are perfectly willing to go down the tubes rather than get fair and balanced. They are all in for the left, do or die.

Great catch Laverne!

Looks like Oblama could get away with yelling change, change, change for only so long before someone started looking at who the changeor really is. And when they do most people are disgusted with who they discover.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she not only loses the Presidential race, but eventually her Senate seat.

Nah, she'll be the new Teddy in the Senate. New Yorkers obviously don't care who they elect. Just look at their track record over the past 30 some odd years.....it's almost as bad as Massachusetts or California.....

It makes no difference to white folks when a black pastor inflicts kook genocide theories on his congregation: The victims are those in his audience who make the mistake of believing him.

Bingo. This is Larry Elder's thesis in "Stupid Black Men": those who believe the nonsense are only holding themselves back, while sensible people get jobs, get married, and succeed in life.

He is toast.
So is Denver, Washington, DC, Chicago and Atlanta when he doesn't get the nomination.

The downside is..? I am sorry to sound cold but just as cross-over voting in primaries became a issue only when the Rats started feeling the pinch so will violence against Campaigns become a issue when the Rats own headquarters are invaded and staffers are harassed, pushed around and shot at.

“He is toast.”

Well, not till he burns in Hell, along with the Clintons.

The entire essence of the Democrats is coming to boil in a pot of their own making.
They have spent the last 50 years pandering to blacks and women, and it was all baseless.
Now it is coming home to roost. Let them eat cake.

I agree completely with you on all points. Turning MLK upside down nails it.

But there should be some reflection, and then consequences now that we have seen the hate spewing forth from the black churches. As one 60's Freedom Rider put it, "I didn't do it for this". And Obama makes clear that Rev. Wright is not untypical. This opens the issue of whether current policies are doing more harm than good.

Of course, Steyn is a treasure!

Stein is brilliant as always.a black candidate instead of a man for all seasons and races, he distanced himself from huge numbers of voters and ultimately sealed his fate.

You are absolutely correct.
Big media’s failure to see any problem with the Obama life choices - to become a Chicago politician and work for “diversity” and against “discrimination” after his magna cum laude from Harvard law - has led to today’s situation when he has “suddenly” been exposed.

DNC Media’s chickens have come home to roost.

Steyn nails it ... again.

There is something profoundly wrong about a man that will twist the words of his own flesh and blood for political gain, will equate a racist pastor’s 20 years worth of insanity with grandma’s single incident all for the sake of some political gain.

It says much about B. Hussein Obama’s character—but then he is a dhimmicrat and character doesn’t count for them.

Age and treachery will overcome youth and skill....

I have posted and believed that statement in the past.

I am now unsure it applies to Hillary. The Richardson defection is huge and alters that perception. The super delegates smell a dead carcass and are bending in the Obama wind.

The MSM can spin all it wants. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. The true verdict will be rendered on April 22 in PA and IN. If Obama suffers a sharp drop at the polls, panic will set in at the DNC and the MSM along with the Obama camp.

Steyn nails it!! Whatever actual beliefs about race and America exist in Obama’s empty soul, the FACT is that he has entrusted this deranged racist hack of a “minister” with his family’s spiritual care. To be the “post-racial” candidate Obama had to pretend to be the man to heal racial divides etc. Now the country can see that his background is steeped in the most one-sided kind of bitter hateful racism which he still can’t renounce.

If Shrillary’s minions don’t pull off an upset with the Superdelegates then Obambi is toast in the fall. The 527 ads just make themselves with the rants of this nutty minister. Although the MSM will desperately try to inoculate Obama by calling for a moratorium on all references to race, there is no way a majority of Americans are going to vote for this charlatan.

“Obama will have more delegates than Clinton but she will get the superdelegates and be the nominee.

He is toast.”

Sure hope you are correct. If you are indeed correct, this will virtually blow up the Democrat Party - yeaa. And, will virtually ensure MacCain’s election to POTUS, yeaa again...
