Mark Steyn: So much for the 'post-racial' candidate
OC Register ^ | 22 March 08 | MARK STEYN

Posted on 03/22/2008 4:22:37 AM PDT by Laverne

"I'm sure," said Barack Obama in that sonorous baritone that makes his drive-thru order for a Big Mac, fries and strawberry shake sound profound, "many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed." Well, yes. But not many of us have heard remarks from our pastors, priests or rabbis that are stark, staring, out-of-his-tree, flown-the-coop nuts. ...snip...

It is Barack Obama's choice to entrust his daughters to the spiritual care of such a man for their entire lives, but in Philadelphia the senator attempted to universalize his peculiar judgment – to claim that, given America's history, it would be unreasonable to expect black men of Jeremiah Wright's generation not to peddle hateful and damaging lunacies. Isn't that – what's the word? – racist? So much for the post-racial candidate.

"there is no way a majority of Americans are going to vote for this charlatan."

I think that millions of religious people have been profoundly shocked and angered seeing a pastor cursing God in church and preaching hatred against whites and America. The MSM doesn't yet understand the depth of that shock and anger. Obama is either with Wright or against him. He didn't separate himself from Wright. He chose poorly.

Is there not ONE , even ONE reporter on our side who would present tough questions to this racist Obama ? I’ve yet to hear anyone challenge him at all. You make some great points here .

Obama is far from done.
He is still heavily favored to get the nomination - even after being trounced in PA, WV, KY and perhaps IN and PR, he will be 120-130 pledged delegates ahead. No way the supers will dare to take the nomination from him.

After this, it all boils down to the economy. It is very likely that's the Fed cuts are not enough, and by Fall we have a full-blown recession, together with $4 gas and rising jobless claims.
No way McCain will win if this is the case.

The only hope is for the Fed cuts to work, then it's 50/50. Remember, Obama only has to get 42% of white vote, and he wins. Even with Wright albatross, it's easily possible.

If Obama came right out and said I hate white people he’d still get half the white vote and the MSM would still excuse him.Don’t doubt this anti-American , racist pig can wind up a POS.

He has, from Dreams Of My Father....”that hate hadn’t gone away” he wrote, blaming “white people-some cruel, some ignorant, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives”.

Just picture in your mind what type of government he has in mind!

By July, Bush will say something, the Saudi’s et al will increase production and the price of oil will fall. the dreary farce of a hoped for recession will evaporate and the economic issue will go away.

The GCC will pull all the strings possible to eliminate the possibility of a Rat president.

Hate to harp on this—but Kerry jumped on Obama’s wagon VERY early. I half-wonder if he’s not behind some of the Dems’ ills. (And I have to admit, I’d love to see a McCain-Kerry election!)

If the nomination is stolen away from him, I fearlessly predict widespread violence. I don’t advocate it, I just predict it.

Obama will have more delegates than Clinton but she will get the superdelegates and be the nominee.

FWIW: I concur. Also I cannot wait for the repeat 68 group to get involved. Things are shaping up for a truly entertaining Dim convention. This has the potential to be a spectacle.

Obama’s quest for change may just bring about the one change he couldn’t imagine which is White America waking up to what is going on and putting a stop to it! I watched O’Reilly yesterday for the first time in a long time and while I am not normally a fan I must say that he put the Reverend Wrong in perspective. The last guest was some black clown who tried to make excuses for the Reverend and O’Reilly slapped him down like the pissant he was.

I know. I wish the Democrats were a loyal opposition party and I could feel bad about what is happening to them much more easily.

As it is it is all I can do to keep from pointing and laughing. Perhaps I should have given up gloating for Lent rather then cookies?

What I heard in Obama’s speech was that we should not judge his good reverand by the content of his character but by the color of his skin. He turned MLK’s dream speech on its head; and yet, the media swoons over his delivery and ignores the content of his speeches.

Excellent distillation from a huge pile of charismatic but empty BS that was O's speech into two sentences of irrefutable clarity.

I ain't too good at that myself, so, if you don't mind, I'm going to use your two sentences in any conversations I get into with pro-O folks. I hope everybody else does too because that can be said with disappointment and no trace of hostility, racism, etc.

Much more effective than arguing.

He is toast.

I was thinking that, too, until Bill Richardson turned on Hillary to support Obama. Maybe he knows something the rest of us don't about the superdelegates. Otherwise, to turn his back on Hillary would be both stupid and dangerous.
