The problem with CIWS -- or any similar system built around a rotary barrel cannon on land -- is the ammunition consumption problem. Less of a problem on a ship.

That's a problem for those trying to use one as a concealed weapon, too. Plus, you have to wear a poncho.

Didn’t the Army used to have a 20mm vulcan on an M113 chassis -

Still do. I saw one about this time last year at an Army Open house.

It's the M163A2

>Using a Russian carrier to haul our military equipment makes as much sense as the British or the French military using German contractors in the 1930s.<

We have a better plan today!

Outsourced passports netting govt. profits, risking national security

In the first few years of the Cold War, a combination of Communist agents and procedures set up while we and the Soviets were allied resulted in the transfer of war materiel and technology to the USSR and Soviet penetration of our military and intelligence services. The current outsourcing of military support and passports to foreign suppliers are potentially serious breaches of national security. However, those people who regarded such matters seriously mostly left when Ronald Reagan’s term had expired.

This current bunch of One Worlders is enough to make me puke. Anything for a dollar including corp trade secrets, national security secrets, military intel secrets, ..... Oh, did I tell you that the word ‘secrets’ means ‘for sale’ in this day and age?
