Boston police officials, surprised by intense opposition from residents, have significantly scaled back and delayed the start of a program that would allow officers to go into people's homes and search for guns without a warrant.
The program, dubbed Safe Homes, was supposed to start in December, but has been delayed at least three times because of misgivings in the community. March 1 was the latest missed start date.

Aren’t warrantless searches without cause like, you know...UNCONSTITUTIONAL???
Here’s hoping they continue to miss the start date in perpetuity...
Gee, maybe there is hope left in the Nanny police state after all..............on second thought, never mind.
This is police state tactics.
They're trying this out in Washington, DC, too.
The searches are “voluntary.” You're not “required” to let the police search your residence.
War is peace. Slavery is freedom.
The Ministry of Truth told me so.
Whatever.

Y’know what’s so abominally sad about this? This is in effing B O S T O N !!!
That's funny. I have a program at my home called Safe Home. It involves arming myself, my wife, and my children with large-capacity semi-autos, handguns, and shotguns. So far it seems to be working.
Boston police officials, HUMILIATED by FAILED MEMORIES OF LEXINGTON AND CONCORD, have significantly scaled back and delayed the start of a program that would allow officers to go into people's homes and search for guns without a warrant.
SURPRISED??? SURPRISED???? Surprised that citizens don't want the law in their home, taking notes for later use?? Surprised, indeed.
They need to disarm the poor before they really stick it to them.
Pass it on...
I am so thankful I live in VA.
Maybe some don’t want the police to see their inhome stash of porn and drugs.
Well, they did it once befor in Boston and it looks like the time has come to do it again.
Is anyone reading the entire article? Has anyone read past reviews of this program. The core word is “PERMISSION”. The police were to enter and look for guns via the “espressed permission” of the owners.
There are all too many “community leaders” in Boston and every other large city that leap at the chance to criticize the police, but have NOTHING to say about the daily and almost hourly slaughter of young people on our streets. From family and friends of the dead we hear wails of mourning, while from the “leaders” only the “sounds of silence”.
The MSM trumpets the tragedy of 4000 dead in several years of war in Iraq. In the same time, how many young minority children have been the victims of drive-by shootings, innocent bystander shootings, ricochet bullets, and sudden rage shootings? What says the MSM about the toll of dead here at home.
The much scorned “Bush’s war” has made the country safer, if not safe, but who speaks up to make the neighborhoods safe? Again, the sounds of silence.
Hey, what are ya?
Some kind of trouble maker?
Constitution? We don’t neeeed no stinkin constitution.
Surprised? They thought that we would act like sheep as most people do. They were wrong.
Why does this remind me of the “permission to have sex” training in colleges? “May I place my hand on your breast? May I kiss you with both lips and my tongue?” It also reminds me WAY too much of the stereotypical prosecutor’s snipe: “If the perp didn’t do anything, why does he need a lawyer? If he doesn’t have contraband in his car, why would he deny permission to search?” “Secure in their persons and possessions” is why! Argh.
Well they have permission to kiss my red, white, and blue balls!
I can’t take the risk that they will find the coed I have tied up in the basement.
