The United States has announced that it is planning to help Egypt build a border fence along the Gaza-Egypt border. Washington transferred $23 million worth of special aid to the North African nation as part of its assistance in locating smuggling tunnels.
... The planned fence between Egypt and Gaza will employ technology directed at preventing the fence from being damaged. This is in response to Palestinian militants who blew a hole in the current wall between the two nations that allowed hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to flock into Egypt late January and early February.
The American Army Corps of Engineers plans to send teams to Egypt to help push forward the border fence plans.
... While building the wall, the Americans also hope to help Egyptian security forces locate and destroy smuggling tunnels into Gaza

Oh! - and it's a real fence, not an unworkable camera on a pole.
Why not just use a virtual fence? Its a lot cheaper and everyone knows if you build a 20 foot fence then sales of 21 foot ladders will skyrocket. /s
This country’s priorities are completely screwed up. I’m 100% for the United States of America supporting Israel, but we need to realize that the People’s Republic of Meximerica is going to live them high and dry.
While building the wall, the Americans also hope to help Egyptian security forces locate and destroy smuggling tunnels into Gaza
And then we will apply all that knowledge and build the fence between United States and Mexico... right guys? Hey guys?
Had to see if this was from Scrappleface or not.
Not a fence:
“While building the *wall*, the Americans also hope to help Egyptian security forces . . . “
Probably a lot like the high concrete wall in Baghdad keeping the Sunnis and Sh’ites apart.
But a wall (or fence) is a bad idea here: it would seal our border, and who wants that?
Just the kind of thing I want my taxes to pay for. *rolls eyes*
I did too. This is unbelievable.
Me. And it would not 'seal' our border. Naturally there would be ample, guarded, LEGAL entry points for commerce, legal immigrants, and travelers.
Welcome to Free Republic.
The UNITED STATES is going to help Egypt build a BORDER FENCE???
And our list of successfully constructed fences is HOW LONG??
Like — a SINGLE, ASTERISKED ENTRY??
With a footnote that reads “In process.”
Oh yes, “Come to the U.S. for ALL of your border fencing needs. We are — after all — the self-styled experts. Oh, and, uh, please pay no attention to, uh, the hordes streaming north across our, uh, southwestern deserts... Uh, it’s not an ‘immigration problem’, you see; it’s our ‘cost-effective [read: dirt cheap] labor supply program’.”
We can’t even build our OWN damn fence, and we’re going to build THEIR fence??!!
