On Sunday, CBS News correspondent Leslie Stahl asked Al Gore on the television show 60 Minutes what he thinks of people like Vice President Dick Cheney who doubt that global warming is caused by human activity.
"I think that those people are in such a tiny, tiny minority now with their point of view, they're almost like the ones who still believe that the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona, and those who believe the earth is flat," replied Gore. "That demeans them a little bit, but it's not that far off."
However, Lord Christopher Monckton, a policy advisor for former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher during the 1980s, says the former vice president can enjoy his "flat earth fantasies" for a few months, but in the end, the world will be laughing at him.
"The alarmists are alarmed, the panic mongers are panicking, the scare mongers are scared; the Gores are gored. Why? Because global warming stopped ten years ago; it hasn't got warmer since 1998," he points out. "And in fact in the last seven years, there has been a downturn in global temperatures equivalent on average to about [or] very close to one degree Fahrenheit per decade. We're actually in a period ... of global cooling."
Monckton contends Gore is now "panicking" because he has staked his reputation as a former American VP on "telling the world that we're all doomed unless we shut down 90 percent of the Western economies." He also contends that Gore is the largest "global-warming profiteer."
Gore's group The Alliance for Climate Protection is currently launching a new $300 million ad campaign that demands reforms in environmental law to help reduce the supposed "climate crisis." But Monckton points out that in the U.K., Gore is not allowed to speak in public about his "green investment company" because to do so would violate racketeering laws by "peddling a false prospectus." He says that fact came about after a British high court found Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth, riddled with errors.
Monckton challenged Gore to an internationally televised debate on climate change last year.
Excellent video. I would also suggest this site also which is very, very good. It looks at GW with a physics point of view but put is layman's language and with a witty POV. It's long but well worth the read. Anthropogenic Global Warming - Fact or Hoax?
And, Gore is on on the ground floor.
I think your mouse stuttered.
Anthropogenic climate change may work on a very small scale, as in the case of a large urban center (say like New York or Tokyo), but the effect is largely localized, and is ameliorated rapidly at greater distances form the high-density population center. This is largely due to the heat energy generated and released in the functioning of the city.
If the people who engineer these things were the least bit smart, they would take advantage of this degradation of energy into heat, and put up urban farms right among the high-rises. Plant growth needs moisture, warmth, and light to function properly, converting light (from whatever source) into the driving force that converts water and carbon dioxide into carbohydrates and free oxygen. This is the basic chemical reaction that keeps life on earth possible. This is really a two-fer, disposing of excess carbon dioxide near its source, and vastly reducing the transportation infrastructure that is needed to ship agricultural products from distant places to the point of consumption. In the process of developing this agricultural enterprise, the waste waters from the operation of the city infrastructure are recycled directly to the urban farm, which has the double function of cleansing the waters of most of the nutrient load, and as a way of making something valuable out of the substances that otherwise burden the resources regarding its disposal.
Now THIS is organic farming, taking the problem right to the place where its effect is to be exercised.
“Thrift” and “economy” are two words that are not always combined advantageously. Doing something for less money, and getting a satisfactory outcome, should be the criteria for the adoption of ANY technology. Technology put in place without regard to the economics involved ought NEVER be adopted.
Which way is that? They are still here after, what, going on 20 years on the national stage? OMG. This is getting so old... please Lord deliver us from this evil.
I saw that part of the interview. He is insane. And smirched 80% of his countrymen with his comments. WFTD bump
The media keeps saying that the Gores ADDED Solar Panels, but THEY BUILT the damn house WITHOUT them in the first place just a few years ago!!! FRAUDS!!!
Bump for later.
The Clintons are old, tired news...and quickly being abandoned by MSM, Hollywood, and others. We are seeing the fall that comes after pride.
Most important of all its basically bullet-proof. Meaning, you critize it at your own risk. Ole' Joe Kennedy would be proud.
“Please watch The Great Global Warming Swindle available online.
Its from BBC television and runs about 70 Minutes.”
Here’s the link:
And here’s a another great video you might want to send to all your friends for the upcoming “earth day”
where did he get the 300 million?
Who is paying for this?
Is this some sort of confidence scam or tax deduction scam where he is going to “deduct” 300 million as an expense?
Where is the DBM to ask these questions?
(oh yeah they are photographing the flying penquins)
And that probably gathers just enough energy to power the hot tub and olympic pool! He is not just a hypocrite, he is a dangerous man because of the media fawning and support of his loony ways.
Newt guests in the latest global swarming commercials. I am through with him, too. McCain had better fly straight on this issue, or he will loose many votes.
Yup, but not quick enough for me. It has just been too long...
Once again, Al Gore, the Henry Gondorf of the new century. :)
That was SOOOOO GOOOD...!!!
For Newt, it’s quite simple why he does these things.
When he was Speaker, he was the man and did not need any lefties or mainstream media to feel like he belonged.
Now, out of power, if he wants to play with the cool kids, he feels he needs to show a more moderate side.
