It sounds like the kids were playing in their own tree, which makes this woman the worst kind of busybody (especially given that the parents were present). Calling the police was not an appropriate response, but she should have minded her own business.
Are you from a racial group that has historically been compared to monkeys and apes?
If they weren’t in their “own” tree.... the kids were trespassing and the parents were allowing it. Next time the “busybody” just needs to call police and have them intervene on the property owner’s behalf.

This is a great example of a liberal being hoisted by her own petard of political correctness.
I heard her interviewed on the radio the other morning about this incident. The tree was on the neighbor’s yard, not hers - although the people she got into the dispute with are renters and do not own the property.
Typical liberal - she thinks it’s her business even though it was not her tree (she claimed to be concerned about the boy’s safety). The Tribune article also mentions that she got into a previous altercation with these people when she tried to “instruct them on how to properly use the village’s new garbage bins”.
This woman, who is a village trustee, has been an outspoken opponent of efforts to crack down on illegal immigration in her town and has made a lot of enemies. How pathetic! How traumatized and neurotic can people be? The lady only said a sweet thing. If I were a monkey I would be flattered if they called playing children after me. Get a grip on reality, policor fools!
I think she was describing "CHILDREN"! How many times have we described children as "monkeys"? Heck, even one piece of our playground equipment is called "monkey bars". Geeeez! These people need to lighten up!
Ever watch children (of any race) play in a tree? They generally look like a bunch of monkeys. Of course, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for political correctness enforcers (libs) when they receive self-inflicted wounds from their own weapons!

They sure have. I called my kids monkeys and my grandkids. There isn't as much racism as it is sensitivity. People are becoming too darn sensitive. Everyone walking around with a chip on their shoulder seeing how they can be offended.
I live in C’ville. The tree was in “his” yard not hers. She was just trying to be a good neighbor and a board trustee. Although I do not agree with her politics (sanctuary for illegals), to think that she would be forced to pay a fine for speech is outrageous!! The scariest part is that Obama dumped her for one word. He hasn’t done the same for his pastor that has preached hate openly for over 20 years!! What the he!! kind of President he would make! I hope this hangs around his neck like a lead weight for the rest of the election cycle. Its time people stopped making excuses for this garbage and started holding him accountable for his actions (or lack therof)
