Wow...no kidding. I noticed the LOW posting count on this one! Good to hear from you D. I hope you’ve been O.K. lately. We’re all doing pretty good over this way. :-)

UGH!! Code stink — you’re right — they gotta go!! :-)

I had a friend in the army who was a K-9 MP and that was a big deal — becoming a team takes a LOT of time a patience! Kudos to your grandson!

I have been pretty busy around home and not online all that much — but I still read when I can!!

I spent a day or two taking pictures in the desert. My two favorite trips were Borrego Springs during wild flower season and Joshua Tree during a full moon. The Painted desert and Petrified Forest National were really beautiful. I have always liked the mountains better. I have always liked green better than brown.

One of the Dwarves was playing with some neutrino paste we had stabilized at .01 Kelvin. Turns out if you couple it to one of the on-board reactors for some "heat", it acts a bit like an electron flow in the super-cooled neutrinos. Sounds pointless until you consider that any matter passed through the center of the torus appears to reverse the strong-electromagnetic bonds at the quantum boundary.

All those neat little arrangements of sub-atomic particles kinda come apart and go their separate ways. Nothing "splody" about it, more like when you walk a couple blocks next to a person, then go your separate ways.

We're working on extending the field through a locus and see if we can't project the effect out a ways. Since it isn't technically an EM wave, it doesn't seem to take local space-time into account.

Gonna call it my "Insta-gib" gun after the Unreal Tournament modifier...

Oh yeah... BTW. This is my 34,000 post on FR.

I spent a full day at Gettysburg two years ago. I didn't get a t-shirt, just a hat and a tie.

Cool! Every disintegrator ray should have a "silent mode".

Those high-pitched whines can be annoying. The ones coming from the equipment, anyway.

Gettysburg

I went late in December and what really surprised is the number of different memorials. And how current the war is to many who live in the area. This picture shows just a few of the many memorials around the battle field.

Good morning, everyone! It’s a balmy 59 degrees of Global Warming today. If our present trend continues, it will be 129 by next Friday morning, and we’re all gonna die!

I’m planning to send Anoreth to work the poll this afternoon. I’m annoyed with her. Also, I have to take Elen to a birthday party in the middle of the time I agreed to work.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow night. I’ll water all the plants this morning, and get my canteloupes in Saturday, ready to be rained upon.

She’s just being obnoxious. “I don’t want to. Why do I have to? Bill doesn’t have to. I want some ice cream. I want to go to the bookstore.” Yadda yadda yadda.

She can take a lawn chair and her art supplies to the poll, and practice drawing fire trucks or something.

LOL, she’ll learn more from drawing fire trucks than from the political stuff.

I copied the info and will take it with me to Home Depot (or Lowe’s) and work out the rest of it.

Thanks again! And welcome to the Undead Thread! (aka The Flying Castle) :o])

One thing we’re learning is that this “no-excuses” early voting is a total swindle. They print up all the sample ballots, deliver everything to half a dozen locations, pay poll workers and election judges ... and then get maybe 50 voters a day. How hard would it be to get to the poll sometime between 6:00 and 6:00 on Tuesday, if a person really cared about the primary? Nobody lives more than a mile from their voting location, at least in this part of the county.

Maybe they’re getting more action at the main library in the County Seat.

What are you making, ‘Face? I’m planning to go out in a few minutes and start digging up around the tree in the front yard, so we can do something Decorative with it. Or maybe I’ll dig around the mailbox post. Got to keep up with the neighbors (the ones with landscaping, not the ones with knee-high crabgrass :-).

How are you, bert?

I was hoping for something a little more dramatic though, you know? An eerie glow, maybe some kind of sub-sonic tearing sound as matter fundamentally discumbobulates itself.

Nothing though. Flip a switch and stuff just starts falling apart.

I’ve been looking for plans for a PVC pipe computer desk for the last year or two, and no one oneline has them. I keep checking with the usual suspects, but no luck.

I even asked my super-creative niece to design one, but she hasn’t gotten around to it.

So I’m flying blind.

You have WAY to much energy for me! LOL! I wake up tired, no matter what, and the rest of the day is downhill. I can’t even remember the last time I got up feeling excited about the day ~~ years, maybe.

Maybe you could put in some pansies around the tree? They like shade.

It’s not a big enough tree to provide shade! I think I’ll send the byos to the playground, too.
