CINCINNATI, Ohio (CNN) -- "Would you rather just sit there and cower underneath a desk when someone executes you or would you rather have a chance to defend your life? That's what it really boils down to."
Michael Flitcraft, a 23-year-old sophomore at the University of Cincinnati, has become a leading advocate for college students to carry weapons on campus. He's an organizer for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, a grass-roots organization that was formed after last year's Virginia Tech massacre that left 32 college students and professors dead.
The group boasts more than 25,000 members.
Standing on the Cincinnati campus, Flitcraft calmly explained he is licensed to carry a weapon in Ohio. He wants to carry his gun on campus to defend himself from potential killers, but by law he can't.
"To me it makes no sense that I can defend myself legally over there," he said, pointing to the city streets. "But I am a felon if I step on the grass over here." Watch a growing movement for guns on campus »
The issue of guns on campuses has intensified over the last year in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings and picked up again after the more recent killings at Northern Illinois University. Lawmakers in at least nine states are considering legislation to allow guns on campus. Other states have struck down legislation.

There will be more campus shootings. Nothing will change. We’re not as smart as lawmakers. Just ask them.
The whacko’s who do these mass shootings are sane enough to select gun-free zones to do it. One other point is that in most of these cases, we usually here about the perp calmly reloading, then continuing to shoot. It is during this time that it would be nice if someone was armed and could just shoot the bastards.
"I'd rather die cowering like a coward..."

Sissy.
Why don’t these students just get a carry permit and not show their weapon to anyone? That way, they are armed and if needed, they can worry about the consequences afterwards.
Do we have an outbreak of 23-year-old Sophomores? Or did this student enroll after a tour of duty? Just curious...
Barry thinks they’re all just bitter.
I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6
8^)
Makes sense to me.
Same way I feel about home invasions. Anthony of O&A has many guns, opie, the big city liberal can’t understand why. They take calls from people who were victims of home invasions, one woman’s boyfriend was killed. They all say basically the same thing...when the phone cord is around your wrists, the thought going through your head is “if I only had a gun”.
Hey folks, here’s something we found a few minutes ago on our site posting about this.....PLEASE EVERYONE READ THIS CAREFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here’s the text of a message one of site admins posted, which includes the quotes. Links follow:
Just noticed something between the CNN article Rick posted and the one I just posted...
Quote:
“I don’t think the answer to bullets flying is to send more bullets flying,” said Gene Ferrara, the police chief at the University of Cincinnati.
Quote:
“I don’t think the answer to bullets flying is to send more bullets flying,” said Ron Hold, of Weber State University.
I want to know RFN where that talking point came from!!! Was it the Brady Bunch or what?
(here’s the link to the second article) http://www.newsnet5.com/news/15880186/detail.html
Good catch. All reading from the same script. Who’s getting paid?
Not sure yet, but we need to bring this to someone’s attention (ours!) and say, the NRA? GOA?
My bet is thats a talking point as well...
I sent this information to Hotair and LGF as well just a minute ago, posted it on my own blog.
We need to bring this to the attention of everyone out there, so the media starts double checking their work!
What does she think the military does? What does she think the police do? When lead starts flying, they send more lead flying. If it works for the military and police, then it certainly would work for citizens.
I would suppose amount of training works like:
military > citizens > police
Going by that, citizens are less likely to shoot an innocent person. Anyone see a problem?
That’s easy for Ferrara to say. He HAS a gun. He has the choice to use it or not. He HAS a choice.
What choice does the student cowering under a desk have? What is the answer for the students WHEN the bullets are flying. That would be my question.
Easily countered. If the police show up and they don’t know if somebody with a weapon is a person with a permit, then, take your own advice:
I dont think the answer to bullets flying is to send more bullets flying.
Well, it’s not the “counter” we’re looking at, it’s the quotation. Did you read it? It’s exactly the same quote, by two different people, as reported by TWO DIFFERENT, INDEPENDENT NEWS REPORTERS. CNN and the Cleveland station!
Someone is TELLING these people to say this. One is a cop and one a security “professional” for the campus.
There’s a PROBLEM here with the quotes/.

Because they could be expelled or arrested, depending on state laws.
For those who don’t know, I’m one of the press spokespersons for SCCC, and I must say, this article did us a world of good. We were running all over the place to keep up with new interview solicitations that came pouring in as a result of this article. I’ve got two interviews scheduled for tomorrow, one of them is with a ClearChannel higher-up.
Because they are making a political statement about the Constitution and freedom as well as working to defend themselves?
Because they want to stand up and be counted in defending Western Civilization?
Good for you. We’re pulling for you.
Good luck
When we use their own teleconferenced talking points to shoot down their own previous drivel, its a win-win for us...but we indeed need to follow the $$$ and possibly [as much as it sickens me] use the collaboration as evidence in civil suits to bankrupt brady et al...

That’s why they should not allow anyone to know about it unless needed, then they can go on tv and say they and others would be dead if not for the weapon. I bet the pressure on the school would be enough to prevent expulsion.
I think staying alive, trumps an academic career, and just about everything else.
You missed my point: turn the talking points back at them. When they want to talk about the problem of a cop showing up not knowing if the guy with the gun is the “perp” or someone with a CHL, just tell them that you don’t think the answer to bullets flying is for the cops to start making more bullets fly.
Do you get it?
Here is the problem I see: The left wants to make out the armed student to be some kind of vigilante. And, to be honest, even if there are some billy-bad-asses out there, I think that most of us are closer to my line of intent:
my weapon is for the personal defense of my life (not my property) and for the life of my family. There are some possible exceptions for very close friends where we defend each other’s life as if we are family. Outside of that, I doubt that many of us would be stalking classrooms and hallways looking for a gunman with a DEFENSIVE weapon. Yes, when all hell is breaking loose and you are in an auditorium class with 300 others, they benefit because you are using your weapon defensively for yourself.
Remember, the hidden nature of your weapon serves two valuable purposes:
#1. Because it is concealed, it is socially acceptable.
#2. Because it is concealed, it is your greatest asset because YOU have an element of suprise in its deployment.
I’ll wager most of you armed students would do exactly what I’d do: find a defendable position from which an attacker must wade through a wall of bullets to kill you. Sorry if that doesn’t protect everyone: get your own gun if you think it that important.
But, it eliminates the cop walking up someone with a drawn weapon. I just don’t see it really happening often.
No, I got your point. And yes, I get it.
You’re correct. I was bringing up a completely different issue, and I agree with you (and I use that very same concept).
What we found was the exact same quote, with two different people’s names attached to the same quote. We wonder why the exact same quote? Most people don’t do that unless they’ve been COACHED to use similar talking points.
This protection also includes 'property' which unless it magically appeared one day, is a 'loss of life' in terms of time spent in acquisition, which cannot be replaced in the grand scheme of things...
Where I cant determine who is the perp or vic [same as leo responding on scene] I would defend against both until the evidence presents a decision, such as the guy with the 'hi powered AK-47 type semiautomatic machine gun reloading his hi capacity clip and laying down a more lethal wall of armour piecing bullets' into a defenseless crowd of people in full stampede/cower mode...
concealed vs open carry, there are pros and cons to both, therefore we should all mix it up and keep the bgs guessing...being un-armed should become socially unnacceptable imho...
