But McCain may also mean more Middle East wars, more bellicosity, more manufacturing jobs lost, malingering in the culture wars, and more illegal aliens and amnesty.

You can guarantee a Hillary or Obama Presidency will mean this.

This is an abandonment of our soldiers who have fought valently in a cause that most believe in.

True. It's too bad the GOP abandoned the millions of Republican activists who worked fore years to bring about an era of federalism and less government. If the GOP didn't do that, the troops would not now be at risk of being abandoned.

“Suffice it to say that I choose to interpret the meaning of “abandon” differently than you do in this particular situation.”

Well of course you do. It’s the only way to advance your argument.

I still don’t think McCain will win

I think McCain will get jack hammered and will lose by a massive landslide, just like what the GOP got handed to them in 2006 when the arrogent party insiders just totally ignored their base and the big issues facing this country.

I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Too many pissed off people, too much anger from many that feel they were stabbed in the back and hoodwinked by the current leaders of the party...With this violent, illegal invasion being a big factor pushing all this anger and disgust.

Please everyone, think Supreme Court Justices appointed by Clinton or Obama could mess us up for a good long time. I have to vote for McCain. I have no other choice.

I empathize with you here. But, gutting our military during a time of war will have much more far reaching impacts IMHO. I believe we can work on changing the debate on Illegal Immigration with McCain as POTUS then with either Hitlery or Obama, and we will not have to also deal with the gutting of our national defense at the same time. Keep in mind that Hitlery and Obama will welcome with open arms all those who come here illegally and at the same time weaken this country’s ability to defend itself.

I’m not making a “principled” point.

My state is no longer conservative. Murders are happening in my neighborhood. Illegal aliens are grabbing 12-year-old girls off the street within a mile of my house. Phoenix police are not allowed to arrest them.

My neighbors don’t speak English and druken groups of men hang out in front yards of houses with 8-cars parked there every night. The emergeny rooms are full and federal judges are running our public schools because they don’t think we spend enough teaching English to the illegal aliens.

I’ve already lost my American culture. I’m not voting for McCain because he’s happy about it and has contempt for my distress.

McCain, Hillary and Obama will all drive the bus over the cliff. The result will be the same terminal crash. There is no difference between the end game of all three. The only difference is the path they will use to get there.

What do you think the Supreme Court will do to change things?

I disagree with Sen. McCain about immigration and campaign finance reform, but he usually votes conservatively. According to www.vote-smart.org, these are some of his latest ratings from some famous interest groups: Gun Owners of America, 100%; Club for Growth, 100%; U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 100%; Citizens Against Government Waste, 91%; Americans for Democratic Action, 10%; NEA, 0%; and NARAL, 0%. These facts prove that he’s more conservative than Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama.

>>What do you think the Supreme Court will do to change things?<<

It depends on what is before them.
I don’t want a bunch of libs ruling on our laws.

Ruthie Ginsburg needs replacing with someone who didn’t lobby for the ACLU.

“But, gutting our military during a time of war will have much more far reaching impacts IMHO.”

Can the president do that without congress? Do you think they would have the votes, considering all the Democrats said they would accomplish in congress and haven’t?

“I believe we can work on changing the debate on Illegal Immigration with McCain as POTUS”

It has to happen before.

The pressure to vote the party line in spite of a poor candidate is quite familiar.

Does the name Bill Clinton ring any bells? Do you recall what he did to our military and our intelligence services during his 8 year reign of terror (from the perspective of our military)? And, he managed that with both houses of Congress being in the control of the GOP. At present the Congress is in the hands of the DimocRATS. A dimocRAT POTUS coupled with a dimocRAT controlled Congress would not bode well for our national defenses.

So, I’m to believe that McCain stated his contempt for your plight directly to your face? From your comments I can only make that assumption. I also can make the assumption that John McCain must be the most powerful man in the U.S.A. if he alone is responsible for all the negative things that you say has transpired in your neighborhood. I guess the fact that the “people” there have stood by and done nothing to address those issues means little? So, how many of the local politicians have had their feet held to the fire for their part in your problems? How many of the politicians at the level of State Government have been reelected just so they can continue their assault on your liberties? Why is it that McCain gets all the blame for your problems in your neighborhood? Do you and your neighbors who do not like this change engage in any proactive measures to try and stop this? Or, do you just sit around and play “Blame others for my woes” for sport. I’m just asking, because it seems to me that if you and others like you really want change, you’ll do something to try and achieve change rather than just leave it up to people who have proven they won’t do it for you.

On the contrary. It is the context in which this issue exists which advances the argument. This nation abandoned our soldiers at the end of Vietnam despite the fact that most of the soldiers were brought home following the pull-out. We have soldiers who are POW’s in Iraq (or at least MIA) just as we did in Vietnam. Our soldiers were ill treated when they returned home from Vietnam. Many of our soldiers have faced this during the present war (though not to the same degree as then). Services for returning veterans with medical and mental health needs are not at the level they should be, and were we to pull out of Iraq with the short-term memory of this nation turned to other issues, the level of care will greatly diminish from what it now is. Those who made the ultimate sacrifice will be forgotten by this country if we do not finish what we started. Abandoned seems to fit given these contexts IMHO.

I apologize for handing the southwest over to Mexico. I was only doing what McCain called me up on the phone and told me to do, LOL.

“If Cuba does not move toward democracy after Fidel croaks, there is a good chance he will invade Cuba to ensure a friendly, democratic government 90 miles from our shore.”

I don’t know about all of the other things you have said about Iraq, Iran, Syria, Hamas, etc but the Cuban thing is an impossibility.

When the agreement was reached between the USA and the USSR over the Cuban missile crisis there was a clause in the agreement that the USA agreed to never attack Cuba. It is and was an open-ended time-frame.

Any attack of Cuba would violate the agreement. It’s not going to happen without the world getting up-in-arms.
