Posted on 05/07/2008 3:20:31 AM PDT by Kathy in Alaska
Mike was diagnosed with esophageal cancer about 5 weeks ago.
He has finished his first round of chemo, and just started the second.
Many of you have been praying for him behind the scenes.
"I appreciate all the 'incognito' prayers....I know they make a difference."
The first round was rough, the second looks to be rougher.
He and his wife would appreciate your prayer support.
How Great Thou Art
An update from Mike himself!
"Hey...its me. This has been a very painful week. Anita has filled you in as best she can.
Anita has done a great job. Couldn't make it without her.
I've got my walking up to 2-3 trips around the ward and will have it higher as soon as I can...but sometimes (like now) the pain interferes. Have pulled out my I.V.s....been transfered to another bed and while I sometimes get a little down...I refuse to give up. I have too many good friends and a beautiful wife and 2 beautiful daughters to live for.
You can post any of this on FR.....I have nothing to keep secret from my friends.
Love to everyone there but I may be here awhile so communication may be spotty.
Take care...... Mike
Hang tough Mike, we are praying for you.
Kathy, thanks for sharing the update .. it’s great news, redrock, that you are able to be up and about. Attitude is so important, keep up your fighting spirit. We’ll all keep up the prayers and good wishes at this end.
Still got your back, and pulling for you Mike!
Great news redrock! Keep climbing the hill.
Great news. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery.
Prayers will continue for Mike and his family. Hoping the pain subsides very, very soon.
I remember a teacher telling me once that he was glad he woke up in pain almost everday.
Because pain means you’re still alive.
He was a Viet Nam war veteran.
THANK YOU for update Kathy and Mike.
I’m still praying for you and Anita.
In Jesus’ Holy Name.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Living Word. You said that Your Word is Life to those who find it and medicine to all their flesh. Today, by my confession, I apply Your Word to our body by giving voice to it. You said in Psalm 139:14 that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that Your works are marvelous. I declare that You made us and we are a marvelous creation.
I speak to sickness and disease today and proclaim that according to Philippians 2:10 that they must bow down to the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every name in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth bows its knee to Jesus’ name.
I speak to our body today and declare that we have authority over it. I command it to receive the Word of God. Matthew 8:17 proclaims that Jesus bore our sickness and took our infirmities. Heavenly Father, I thank you that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us and makes alive our mortal body.
I speak to our immune system and command it to line up with the Word of God. Our immune system will destroy sickness and disease in our body and perform its job, for this is what You created it to do. I thank you, Father, that every cell in our body responds to Your Word. Your Word permeates our body from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet. I confess that the Word of God is being made flesh in us. Psalm 103:3 declares that You, Father, forgave all our iniquities and healed all our diseases. Father, that is Your confession and I make it my confession, also. We don't judge by the sight of our eyes; we judge by Your Living Word. It is Your Word that lives in us and brings health and healing to every part of our body.
Heavenly Father, I rejoice at Your promise of divine health. You said it and I believe it. Today I declare that we will see Your promise of healing manifest in our body.
Healing is ours because Jesus paid the price two thousand years ago. God so loved us that He sent His Son to die on the cross so that we could experience life on God's terms. His abundant life is manifesting in us. Make us whole ~ body, soul, and spirit. Amen ...
Psalm 118:17-18 ~ “I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord. The Lord has chastened me sorely, but he has not given me over to death.”
Hang in there. FReepers are not allowed to give up. We're tougher than that aren't we? Continued prayers for strength and perseverance in winning your battle!
Praise The Lord!!
Best wishes for successful surgery, surcease of pain, a speedy recovery and delicious barbequed baby back ribs on the Fourth!
Excellent good news Mike! Great to know you are up and about. Prayers continue for an uneventful recovery. My best to the little mrs.
Kathy, thanks again for the ping and everything else you do.
All sounds like it is going so well. Happy to hear Mike’s attitude. They say that is HALF the battle. God bless and keep him on the road to recovery. Hope he isn’t in there too long.
Now THAT’S an update! What spirit Mike has :)
May blessing continue and his health improve.
“TT”, Beth & Nana
Prayers continued for you and your wife Mike.
Thank you AuntB, I had not seen this.
Know I am praying for you. So sorry to hear about this. My sister is battling stomach cancer right now too. It is a very rough road. I have been off FR as I was adopting a child, it was final last week. It is hard to find time. Sure glad I came on so I can add my prayers to the prayers going up on your behalf. I will never forget the great time we had at Jarbidge. May Jesus keep you in His most capable hands. Jean
Thank you for the added prayers for redrock. I will add you to his ping list.
Sending prayers for your sister in her battle against cancer.
And congratulations on the adoption of your child.
ALWAYS prayin'. Miss ya
Thank you for the update, prayers continue...
"Im back home...have been for a few days. Unfortunatly my energy levels are almost zero. The doctor released me today to start doing my normal things (like FR) and I believe this will make my energy levels rise.
Since Ive been home most of the time Ive spent sleeping or in pain waiting for the pain meds to kick in. This is going to be a nasty recovery...but it WILL be a recovery.
I owe everyone on FR more than I can ever repay. You have helped to keep me alive thru your prayers and your love and caring.
Without all of you I wouldnt be here."
We need to continue big time prayer for Mike's recovery and freedom from pain.
Thank You that Mike is back home.
Please help him to take life day by day as he looks
toward You for assistance, comfort and reassurance.
Your will be done, Lord.
In Jesus’ Holy Name,
Keeping Mike on my daily prayer list.
An update at #378 and a call for more prayers re: redrock!
I ask that you bless Mike’s mind, body and soul. From the top of his head to the soles of his feet, bless him.
Give his heart and mind You peace as well. Hold him in Your loving arms. Give him Your rest.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Prayers continue for Mike.
Will continue to lift Mike to the Lord for complete healing! Thank you for the update.
Ok, Mike!!! Get that strength back, I might find another 5,000 pound boulder I want moved!
Still praying for you Mike. May God glorify Himself in you and your family.
More prayers being sent.
Get well soon.
Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on Mike’s recovery. Surgery for any reason is so miserable, and hospital routine is exhausting and undignified. Being at home is terrific—much better rest there, much more of the needed attention, and of course, FRiends!
Mike, you are so in my prayers, as well as your wife and family. It is my prayer that you feel a lot better, very soon, as your body heals from the surgery. As the pain lessens, your energy levels will probably increase, and that’s part of my prayer.
I’m so looking forward to the updates, and will continue prayers for your complete recovery, in Christ’s most Holy Name.
I am leaving tomorrow for a brief vacation, and am bringing my prayer list with me .... and you know Redrock is on there. So happy he’s home and cleared to resume normal activities ... that will give a surge of energy. Prayers will be going out for Mike and family.
Thank you for the update! Prayers continue for Mike’s full and speedy recovery...
Continued prayers for that road to good health. Hang in there. It WILL happen. One day at a time.
Pleased as can be to see you made it back Home!
You are right. The sooner you start “getting back to the normal things” is what will make your system start realizing who’s boss!
Been there meself with the no energy part... trust me, kick starting the bod isn’t easy! But the more you do it, the easier it becomes...
Still got your six...
Isaiah 53:5 ~ “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with His stripes we are healed.”
Continued prayers for Mike and family.
To Mike: It’s hard, but as you say recovery will come. Every day you’ll find you’re just a teeny bit stronger, can stay awake just a while longer, can manage to sit around in the living room with the family a bit more, and, finally, find the frequency and severity of the pain lessen. Being home makes a world of difference and I’m so very glad you’re back on your home turf.
Many blessings ^0^
