First, I don’t “blame” the illegals. WE, the taxpaying citizens, are the suckers. And you’re certainly right that we should hold elected officials accountable. By the way, it’s no longer just a border-state problem. The 11 to 60 million illegals are affecting every geographical, social and economic sector of America.

“First, I don’t “blame” the illegals. WE, the taxpaying citizens, are the suckers.”

No we’re not. We work all day, sometimes all weekend, try to spend whatever non-working time we have raising families properly, and expect that those we elect to office do their work properly. We don’t have all damn day to follow all this stuff and organize sufficiently to combat all those who are selling us out and undermining our country. When we do pay attention and vote correctly on issues like Prop 187, some asshole commie judge overrides our vote and we have no recourse. And I do “blame” the illegals. Screw them and the liberal mindset that excuses their actions in all this.

I totally agree. We should not only end the gravy train but secure our borders - not only because the massive illegal foreign invasion is bringing us economic and cultural ruin, but because it’s almost a classic Freudian death wish not to control illegal immigration in this age of international terrorism.

I know LA county covers a very large area, but how can NORMAL law-abiding, hard-working, honest Americans continue to live there?

Job, family, and specialized coach for the kids. The weather too. If we good conservatives are stuck here, we have to keep fighting the powers that be to make it better. Thank G-d for John and Ken and other muckrakers. Our mainstream press and politicians are useless.

If we only had the b*lls to fine every single employer $2000 a day per illegal. Even if they showed “documentation.” Enough of this “knowingly hired” crap.

Grab the nannies and gardeners as well as factory workers, and fine EVERYONE. The jobs for illegals would be GONE and they would go back to their beloved Mexico.

Then there is this from Topix Forum:

Maxwell Smart agent 86

“I will tell you a true story.

In California there is a welfare program called CAPI. It is administered by the local DPSS offices in each city. It is all paid for by the tax payers of California and we get no federal assistance. I know this because I work for the federal government at the Social Security office.

All the illegals have to do is be over 65 and come in and apply for SSI. They need the denial letter and then they are instructed to go to the local DPSS and we give them the address. Not only will they recieve full Medi-cal, food stamps, A check worth more money than Social Security pays our disabled recipients.

We not allowed to take any fraudulent documents we are handed, We cannot call ICE or fraud and report the fake social security cards or even contact the US citizen who is having their card worked under.

This abuse usually happens when their children “sponser” them in on a visit and then bring them into the office so they can get all the medical bills and cash on our dime. It is really a bad deal for the taxpayers of California. We need to repeal it. We should hold their children responsible as they have signed an agreement not to get welfare and that they would support their parents.”

And then in another thread Maxwell Smart goes on to say that they go back to Mexico and return to the U.S. once a year to renew their Welfare.

I know. I just mentioned to another FReeper that the eleven to sixty million illegals here (what does it say about our government that we DON’T even KNOW how many are here!) are no longer just a border state problem. Every socio-economic and geographical sector of America is affected. I think one of the few things we can do is find our own “sanctuary cities.” By that I mean study very carefully what the trends are in various communities and guesstimate what the future is likely to be with respect to crime, schools, taxes, etc. and hope for the best. I realize that’s not easy but I think it’s very important for young people who plan to have a family and those planning retirement to do this.

Amen! The ethnocentic pressure groups and special-interest business lobbies (U.S. Chamber of Commerce, et al.) love those low wages with no benefits - better yet, ‘off the books’. Both factions finance and pressure our pandering politicians who don’t give a damn about the general welfare or the Constitution. As long as these parties can find a job, make a buck, or get elected - the public be damned!

One commentator said that those who call us names because we want secure borders and oppose the unconstitutional illegal invasion are the new McCarthyites. They use terms like “racist,” xenophobe,” etc. like a previous generation used the term “communist.” That’s because when they can’t address something rationally or present a serious argument they resort to name-calling. They only expose their own intellectual bankruptcy when they turn to personal slanders.

Thanks for that post. FAIR is one of the best on the subject of illegal aliens - and one of my favorite sites.

“Follow the Money!” The Club for Growth, like the Wall Street Journal and other business lobbies are part of the GOP faction that loves cheap wages with no benefits. For example, the Journal runs some conservative editorials BUT, it’s the foremost paper of commerce and industry. It supports amnesty and open borders. Never mind that research has proved that illegals getting low wages suppresses the wages ALL workers, skilled as well as unskilled. I’ve heard Moore speak and he could be a lobbyist for La Raza on that issue.

I’m no lawyer but I’ve been told that that it’s a federal matter. How many times have we heard local law enforcement authorities say they have no authority to enforce immigration law because it’s up to the federal government? I think that’s a crock but it gives them a convenient excuse. I’d guess that would apply to civil as well as criminal suits (?)

Definitely! A while back I posted an article that explained why many constitutional law experts believe that it’s a distortion of the 14th Amendment to apply the citizenship clause to the children of illegal aliens born here. They made a convincing case that it’s wrong in terms of historical context and original intent. They said that the phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” applied only to the recently emancipated slaves and not to others. In short, they said there should be an amendment passed that would clarify this confusion and misinterpretation.

I agree that the single most important thing is to crack down severely on the illegal employers of illegal aliens. We know that without the job-magnet the invasion will eventually die of attrition. But the ethnocentric and business lobbies have persuaded our pandering politicians to oppose everything - employer sanctions, the fence, etc. On the contrary, they use our tax dollars to subsidize them.

we could probably get a decent amount of legislation passed to make employing illegals a death-sentence for a business.

We have the laws on the books already- we just need to enforce them.
