ANCHORAGE — Oil production at Prudhoe Bay, the nation's most prolific oil field, halted on Friday when a vehicle clearing snowdrifts damaged the power supply to processing centers.
Prudhoe Bay had been sending about 380,000 barrels of crude oil a day down the trans-Alaska oil pipeline, said Steve Rinehart, spokesman for field operator BP PLC. Rinehart said production would be "way down" on Friday and would ramp back up over the next several days.
BP's Northstar field also went offline as a result of the power outage. Northstar produces about 79,000 barrels of crude daily from a man-made island in the Beaufort Sea. All told, Alaska's North Slope fields produce about 730,000 barrels each day.

60% of the current run-up in crude is due to speculation/manipulation--nothing whatsoever to do with inventories or demand flow.

Yes, you are right. Now, every time an oil company executive sneezes or a saudi prince farts, it gets picked up by the news and subsequently tied to higher oil prices.
Not to worry though, oil prices have now gone vertical. They will drop hard, as soon as they’ve convinced a whole new crop of green futures traders to hold the bag.
The only fun part of it all is that at least one major house is going to find itself stuck and unable to unwind their bet on oil in time.
No coincidence, but a perfect move to further the agenda of the globalist left. Obviously they want us on our knees during GWB’s watch. Then when the people grow angry, martial law is invoked. Thus no elections. Just an idea.

Another BP mess - is that the way the english run a company? They have had plenty of problems in Alaska and the fire in texas, just to name a couple of areas that they have failed to do properly since their purchase of these formally well run assets.
They lost the main power plant. This cut power to all the process facilities. Each facility has a standby generator. These only supply enough power for basic operations. Once the huge turbines shut down, they don’t always start back up without extensive work. We try to produce as much oil as we possibly can. The trans alaska pipeline is capable of flowing 2.2 million barrels per day. We are currently producing at around 700,000 bpd. The only thing stopping us from filling the line is congress.
