Let’s see if maturity will prevail and this thread can stay alive.

Prayers to all that are sick, no matter their politics, beliefs or character.

Amen to that . If some people knew those who have had this horrible ailment...they wouldn’t be making these kinds of hateful comments. We have known two people who have suffered through this and it was terrible on them and their families. I pray that all those who can’t say anything decent to just be silent. God is listening.

Bless you. My sister is suffering from brain cancer right now and it is a very gut-wrenching time for my family. I would not want this to happen to anybody. My heart goes out to you and I really wish you well. My sister is in the hospital right now and she is always in my thoughts and prayers. I wish peace for the senator, just as I wish for my sister.

Interesting point about the cellphone.

The kids these days, tho’, spend more time text-msg-ing one another more than actually talking I daresay.

My employer requires that I leave my cell in the car, so I don’t even have the hazard of carrying it on my person most of the time.

I try to remember to leave it in my purse when I’m not out in public rather than having it in my pocket.

When I’m at home it’s on my kitchen counter unless I have forgotten it in the car.

It seems like a lot of people keep them glued to their heads having endless conversations. Who are they talking to? What are they discussing? Do they really have that much to say that’s actually important, or are they just addicted to shutting out the rest of the world and chatting with their special someone all of their waking moments (even while driving == !)?

Sincere prayers from one who just a short while ago, lost one of my older brothers to brain cancer. Prayers for the family as they seem to be at the easiest stage ... may they remember their joint Faith and pray in God’s Grace.

Didnt his sister in law Jacquline K. die of a similar cancer?

This is where Ted Kennedy’s Irish sense of humor will come into play bigtime. He will try to keep everyone else’s spirits up as long as he can with stories and jokes like the Irish can only tell. And I hope when he does pass, he will have a grand Irish funeral. May his pain and suffering be fleeting and may he reconcile with his religion and his God in his remaining time on earth so that he may yet see those pearly gates.

I've seen times that Freepers turned on a dime and stopped hurling the usual bellicosities on a political enemy because they suddenly died.

But there are numerous reasons not to speak ill will in a situation like this. None of us would wish this on an enemy, and we fear it for ourselves and our loved ones. We would prefer to beat the Democrats in the realm of ideas. None of us would want to sit down with the senator or his family right now. Our words would be insufficient. But I'm sure we all would wish his family well.

Many years ago, a man betrayed me in an important area of life. A short time later, his wife was diagnosed with lung cancer. I prayed for her and communicated with the family. She ultimately died. I drove 240 miles to her funeral, not knowing how I would be received. What happened before no longer seemed important.

There is never a sufficient reason to enjoy the agony of another human being. I was saddened by this news, if for no other reason that I'm a thirty year removed former Democrat who thought highly of his brothers. The Kennedy's are rich, but they have suffered too, and now is a time for us to show class and to bless, rather than condemn.

Wow, I despise his politics, but do pray for him and his family. My mother passed away from a similar brain tumor and it was extremely hard on her- and me. Prayers for the Kennedy’s during this difficult time.

Prayers for him and his family.

That being said, it’s quite sad that there can be snide, cruel, petty, vindictive people that call themselves “conservatives”.

I hope, sir, when you reach the end of your life people will treat you as you are treating this ill man....

This could have significant impact on a host of issues. Can people leave their personal stuff aside on this thread?

Reasonable request.

Thousands of people are dying every day from cancer and other diseases. This is life, this is the way it is. One might say that disease is nature's great equalizer in life. A fact that eventually even the rich and elite are painfully made aware of.

You are right in stating that his exit might affect the political landscape. But, if it does, I don't see how it can really be that big of a deal for very long. There are plenty of other socialists in the wings to fill the void. I suspect that after a suitable period of moaning and rending of garments, the faithful will pick up the banner of socialism and again continue their assault on our few remaining freedoms.

Same here. I pray that he recovers and spends the rest of his life out of politics.

What am I missing?

Maybe nothing. The first story posted said it was melanoma and it still might be the origin.

I had a Sister in Law who had a small mole that turned out to be melanoma removed from her cheek. About fifteen years later it appeared again, but it showed up as a brain tumor.

The Doctor removed it, but there were others that could not be removed. She died within six months.
