Just saw Maxine Waters trying to grill the oil company execs and end up falling flat on her well made-up face. She threatened to nationalize the oil industry, and admitted that she was a liberal and a socialist (shocking!) Shep Smith cut to the Fox reporter and asked how the remark about nationalization went with the execs. The reporter said that the chairman of Shell responded by comparing Maxine to Hugo Chavez. I'm loving it.
I think it would be of great interest to have a beauty contest between Max ine Waters and Hu go Chavez. Except that I doubt there could be a winner.
Maybe they are responsible for bringing crack into the inner cities to, Maxine. Better check out that angle...

When I saw the title my first thought was Hugo and Maxine but she’s too stupid for even Hugo to pay any attention to.

Also, did the Shell exec compare her to Chavez in those words publicly?
If the sweep predicted by the DNC takes place, Big Oil, Health Care (including pharmaceuticals), Bankrupt Airlines, Railroads and Energy will be in the forefront of the nationalizations after the economy collapses. First will come the increase in taxes, including wide ranging "excess profits taxes".
She wants to nationlize Shell? Is this even possible?
Sounds like Maxine did not investigate Shell very well. She should have at least looked at their website.
I saw the same report and immediately came to FR to see if anyone else was as amazed as I was. I just stood staring at the screen with my mouth open for several minutes. Talk about showing your true colors in High Definition.
Oh, yeah. She said, "Well this liberal will be all about socializing, uh, uh, ....(she can't think of the word 'nationalize') taking over, and the government running all of your companies!"
Maybe Mazine will piss em off badly enough that one of will come out of his box.

I saw it. She starting to say “socialize” but then realized she was using the wrong word and paused for a long time trying to scan the empty spaces of her brain for the word “nationalize” but couldn’t come up with it. The person near her was about to lose it.

When monies were being voted for the victims of the Twin Towers, Waters and her cronies held up the appropriations until she could attach a rider giving money to “all of her constituents”.

She was facing off against five well educated, middle-aged, rich white guys. It must have been like looking into her own personal vision of hell.
Well, when I saw the headline, the very first thing I thought was “but it’s worked so well for Hugo Chavez!”
Actually, given the amount of control that the government exerts over the oil industry as it is now, it’s pretty close to being nationalized. With the exception of the fact that the shareholders get to keep their profits, or at least a portion of them.
Where are Hank Reardon and Ellis Wyatt when you need them?

It is called "Royal Dutch Shell" for a reason. The company is wholly owned by the Dutch.
Outsourced to countries with more favorable taxes and less regulation. Wyatt has lots of good raw materials in the Canadian oil sands...easier than his first cut at oil shale. Hank is making Reardon metal in a place not infested by unions.

Shell is actually both a UK company and a Dutch company. They have joint management.
