Knowledgeable Republicans 'Less Concerned' Over Climate BY PETER ALDHOUS May 23, 2008

The more Democrats think they know about global warming, the more concerned they are. But Republicans who consider themselves well informed on the topic seem no more worried than those who profess ignorance, a study suggests.

When it comes to attitudes to global warming in the US, how knowledge translates into concern depends upon people's political views, and on whom they trust to provide information on climate change, say the political psychologists involved.

In February 2008, researchers at Texas A&M University in College Station published a survey suggesting that Americans who see themselves as well informed about global warming are actually less concerned than those who admit to knowing little Risk Analysis.

"Increased knowledge about global warming leads to apathy," stated a press release issued by the university at the time.

“Increased knowledge about global warming leads to apathy,”

What a biased description. Apathy? How about well-founded doubts?

I wonder how many years the entire world would have to stop driving to offset the carbon emissions from current volcano eruption in South America. Just wondering...

What do you expect from Aggies, Sub-Driver?

Not that the study would have any more credibility if it came from UT-Austin...

This study, of course, will only be used by the Left to characterize Republicans as ignorant.

If the Dems are really concerned about global warming why are they trying to rip down hydro-electric dams?

I predict that there will be a big public outcry to increase drilling, get new nuclear power on-line, etc. by the time Nov. comes around.

"Knowledgeable Republicans"

I don't see that phrase often. Few reporters are willing to admit that we exist. The opposite side is "Ignorant Democrats", which is rarely found in print because the words are redundant.

Well if one looks at the evidence and bothers to look at the history of the world’s even changing weather pattern one quickly comes to the conclusion that people like Gore and his ilk are playing the pied piper with the masses. Gore has made a bunch of money off of this fable. Yes the climate is changing just as it has for the past several million years and to think that man can control that is the ultimate in arrogance.

The story should read like this: THE MORE THAT PEOPLE LEARN ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING THE MORE PEOPLE SEE THROUGH THE B.S.

Katie Couric once lamented that global warming was becoming a liberal/elite type of issue, and she was sad about that, because she thinks the world is all in this together.

It sure seems that liberals are the most worried about the sky falling with regard to global warming.

What a mouthful. That's an awful lot of words to say "people believe what they want to believe"

Um...well...I don't know...maybe it comes from the fact that there is no data to prove global warming is caused by man.

Apathy? How about skepticism of Al Gore.

Republicans are more likely to know little details like the fact that the globe stopped warming in 1998 and even the IPCC has admitted there will be no warming for at least the next decade.

It has nothing to do with “not trusting scientists” - it’s because Republicans don’t trust the socialists pushing their thinly disguised political agenda under the aegis of “saving the planet”.

If global warming is being caused by man’s activity, I’ll have to hear it from someone other than the hysterical boobs with a political agenda before I believe it.

It is obvious why ABC attaches “news” to their title and appends every radio segment with ABC News; no one could mistake what ABC does as news, but they hope by repeating the lie enough the ignorant might confuse ABC propaganda as news.

"Increased knowledge about global warming leads to apathy,"

Well even the well-educated liberals understand catastrophic global warming is a lie, but it is THEIR lie for THEIR agenda, so they act like they believe it.

Well said, but I actually agree with the statement. The more I learn that Global Warming is just a recurring natural cycle and there's no evidence of future calamities**. The more apathy I have for the topic. I'm pretty apathetic about the sky falling too.

**Gloom and doom predictions about the seas rising and storms and all that does NOT qualify as evidence of future calamities. Perhaps when those that have been predicting these events for the past 3 decades, achieve an accuracy rate higher then the psychics in the National Enquirer; we'll revisit their ruminations. Based on many of these predictions it should be warm enough to BBQ in January. Yet its the end of May, and I still have my heat on at night.
