Now if those rings show up in your lawn, they are called fairy rings and are caused by fungus......Sometimes they even cross each other and are always rings......Use to tease a neighbor about his fairy rings in the lawn..took him a couple of years to get rid of them....FYI
But of course they were not as large as these.....

So far the largest living things on the planet have been fungi. There’s one in Michigan’s UP that covers acres and another in Oregon I believe. I think they’re also suspected of being the oldest living things at this point.
