I don't think there's any question about what Dodd is up to. It was just this sort in inquiry that began the rush toward handing out shaky mortgages to idiots and fools who couldn't manage pocket change let alone a bank obligation.
Expect to see Dodd waving some "proof" of discrimination by credit card companies and a demand that "something be done" in the name of fairness for the folks who pay higher rates.
We've been down this road before.

I guess the only real difference then, is that they are trying to save some money and time?

Why is Sen. Chris Dodd putting this provision in a housing bailout bill?

Never mind.

Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. Ratified 12/15/1791.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Well, thankfully, they aren’t tapping the phones of terrorists or any other such massive invasion of privacy.

It is intended to catch ebay sellers and other merchants who don’t report their income. It is yet another attempt to catch supposed tax cheats at the cost of any bit of remaining privacy.

Speculate economic collapse in 2011. The IRS must still survive to have deep, deep records for additional fleecing, errr, audits of who still has a dollar to support more excellent governance from our ‘peoples party’.

It’s private, but most bigwigs in Washington know they can get whatever piece of data they want from the SAIC. Deal is, rat party of lawyers must have legal precedence set to do nasty things to dumb Americans.

Then it requires many millions to undo and dumb Americans just don’t have that kind of money. So saith William Jefferson Clinton whom felt we dumb Americans just had too many freedoms. Mr. Bill (pun intended) was the precendent setter of the precedent setting for slipping the precedent setting provisions to hedge there bets against other future Republicans attempting to undo precedent setting for the American people. You think understanding technology is hard, so most of us ignore it? The Clintons were brilliant. Evil, but brilliant. Wonder why every nation on earth besides Israel whom now acts the same way is laughing at us? No worries, we’ll just sue OPEC and it will be all better.

Indeed, that is probably the real reason for this.

Where is our right to privacy, or does that only apply to abortion rights?

1. Our right to privacy is becoming nonexistent. However, it still applies to all documentation pertaining to Obama.

It shouldn't be hidden in an unrelated bill.

2. What should be done and what is done are two entirely different concepts. Congress always does this. Is it wrong? Yes, without a doubt. They have strayed so far from the way our government was established, their web is permanently tangled.

From what I read from viewing the summary page, it was part of three amendments from the House. Don’t know who voted on it from there.

Number 1, why does the gov’t need to routinely collect information on people’s spending?

Mommy needs to make sure you don't do something to hurt yourself, like buy a scary gun. Mommy is only looking out for you.

The government is your most dangerous enemy. No terrorist could ever have hoped to have done more to enslave Americans and harm the American economy than the federal government has done.
