Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has opened up a double-digit lead over Republican John McCain two weeks after he clinched the nomination, a new poll published on Friday showed.
The nationwide poll conducted by Newsweek showed Obama leading McCain by a margin of 51-36 percent, indicating that he might have got a bounce from his recent primary victory over Hillary Clinton.
Newsweek said the survey of 1,010 adults nationwide on June 18 and 19, 2008 has a margin of error of 4 points.

Conservative VP please otherwise conservatives are going to have a hard time getting excited about voting for McCain.
I only speak for myself, but I ain't standing in an hour-long line on a cold November day to vote for McCain-Lieberman.

Mitt Romney is the only key to Pennsylvania and Michigan.

'Newsweek' has NEVER conducted a fair, balanced poll for anything. Even a fool knows that one can conduct a poll to result in the answer you want to HEAR:-()

The thread right above this one from Gallup says 46%-44%. Polls are media driven stories to enforce an agenda. They arent even being subtle anymore..

Sorry to break it to use, but based on that poll sampling, Barrack should be up by more than 15%. The sample had 55% Dem, 36% Repub or a 19 point advantage. The 2000 and 2004 elections were split evenly Dem, Repub, Indep. This poll is actually bad for Obama, but the media will never report on the underlying poll internals.

Maybe they heard about Cindy stealing drugs from a charity for her habit. No, she was never charged. Do you think you would have been?

Mitt Romney is the only key to Pennsylvania and Michigan. Not sure why Penn., but if he could deliver these key swing states with the number of electoral votes they carry, then he would be worth being on the ticket.

You are right, Jeff, just because we are inundated with media Obama worship, doesnt mean he will win. Feelings dont win elections..

Newsweak’s polls are as leftist as their “reporting”. 30 years ago, Newsweak was a moderate alternative to Time’s leftist bias. Now Newsweak has gone even farther left than Time. (Ane Time hasn’t gotten any better)
To: Jeff Head
when Obama finds out, like Kerry did,
Gore lost in 2000 only by a few hundred votes.
Kerry lost in 2004 only by a few thousand votes, and that was after a strong swiftboating campaign and an bin Laden taped threat the week before the election.
It is going to take more than McCain's charm and charisma to get people to swoon over him in the election booth. Sadly, those are characteristics Obama has and he will get voters swooning over him in the election booth.
