Labelling cloned food gives people the freedom to choose it, or to choose a substitute. That’s the free market.

Government-coerced labelling is not the free market under any definition.

If it’s good, why be scared of labelling it?

Because of the poll numbers stated above. Mass ignorance means that any such label is tantamount to a danger warning. And where ignorance doesn't already exist, the labelling will surely be exploited by luddites, and by certain unscrupulous people who stand to lose economically if cloned meat succeeds.

That's the real issue: behind every particle of feigned concern for the public health lies a mountain of concern for someone's wallet...and it's the consumer's.
