In an article in the National Post today, columnist Douglas Farrow reports that "The decision, which is to be announced in time for Canada Day, is clearly not driven by popular demand. For example, an online poll by the Globe and Mail, with over 300,000 respondents, went 92% to 8% against giving the award to Morgentaler." This is just the left thumbing their noses to the Canadian people.

I’m starting to think we ought to lock-down the northern border first. At least Mexicans are generally Christian and hard-working ... Canadians seem to be an insipid bunch of lazy Athiests.

Im starting to think we ought to lock-down the northern border first. At least Mexicans are generally Christian and hard-working ... Canadians seem to be an insipid bunch of lazy Athiests. I think the borders should be sealed to prevent terrorists. However, I think you also mischaracterize the vast majority of Canadians. I've known a great many Canadians and they are all wonderful people (okay, they talk a little funny, eh), it is not their fault that they have been duped by a government that seems to want to emulate the worst European failures.
Truthfully, I think we would be making a wonderful move if we traded parts of California, and the northeast for some prime hunting, fishing and oil-rich Canadian land.

Ever been to Toronto or Quebec or Montreal?
The rest might be ok, but not Ontario and Quebec.

Hi Bert: Please educate me. What did you find objectionable in Ontario and Quebec? More liberal than most? Thanks.

I’ll grant you that the many of the French Canadians leave A LOT to be desired (though the ones I know are great; however, they DO have jobs and don’t spend their lives looking for handouts), but most of the non-French Canadians have a fairly low opinion of them too.

I once talked to a Canadian consuler officer about a planned trip to the northern areas in Quebec. He said don’t go there, you won’t like it and may find the people difficult. He directed me to northern Ontario.
The next day when I got back to my office I had a mountain of stuff Fedexed from his office in Atlanta
I traveled extensively in the western provences including the Yukon nad Northwest territories where I found people to be very nice. The program Gas Station seems to be on the money. Good solid folks

It’s ultimately their fault for voting for socialism; however, a lot of this is because of the huge populations in Toronto, Ontario and Montreal. I assume you will recognize that the people in the western parts of Massachusetts are far less liberal than around Boston, Canada has the same problem.

In my opinion, the Canadian Rockies are even more beautiful that the American Rockies. The people you meet in the big Canadian cities are generally similar to the liberals you will meet in New York, Chicago or California, but once you get out into the country, the people are wonderful and oftentimes deeply ashamed of their government. Many of the Canadians I know wouldn’t hesitate to vote to become part of the United States.
