According to MSNBC, McCain was briefed and consulted with prior to the operation.

If it had been Obama, he would have been in the MSM announcing he was consulted with before the raid even began.

I noticed. They mised my post that said I would apologize if McCain negotiated the release. We become just like the dummies when we lie or mislead people to an unproven conclusion.

I am not going to become a cheerleader for a liberal candidate. If that means I am no longer welcome on a conservative site, then so be it.

It is important that we do not become like the liars on the Democrat side. Credit should be given only when it is due.

POST TO FRENCH POLITICS AND CULTURE PING LIST

Thanks for posting this wonderful news.

INGRID BETANCOURT IS FREE! She has been captive for 61/2 long years, and is said to be in failing health. In the last video of Ingrid, she appeared to be near death. The Americans freed have been there for shorter periods, and are reported to be in good health, all things considered.

Sarko has been totally dedicated to freeing Ingrid Betancourt, and it looks like France’s cooperation, along with McCain’s visit did the trick . The FARC is a Communist Terror organiuzation that nees to be put out of business permanently.

A Sarko/McCain alliance starting Jan 2009 would be an important step to that end. Electing Obama.... probably a dinner and chat for the FARC at the WH.

The next POTUS will make an historic difference. Don’t even consider staying home.

Ingrid Betancourt (born December 25, 1961) is a Colombian politician, former senator and anti-corruption activist. Betancourt was kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) on February 23, 2002 while campaigning for the Colombian presidency as a Green, after she decided to campaign in an area of high guerrilla presence in spite of warnings from the government, police and military not to do so. Her kidnapping has received wide coverage in France due to her French citizenship, and the government of France had participated as a facilitator for the release of Betancourt and all prisoners held by the FARC guerrillas. However, these negotiations were unfruitful. Betancourt was ultimately rescued from captivity, along with fourteen hostages, by Colombian security forces on July 2, 2008

Apparently, McCain didn’t mention the hostages while announcing his trip.

That is not the point. If you are willing to placate yourself with lies, you might as well vote for Obama or McCain.

You are nasty, you know? You have no excuse when you become what you say you hate the most.

Good day.

WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!! WELCOME HOME Keith Stansell, Marc Gonsalves and Thomas Howes Welcome Home. Oh and welcome back to the world Ingrid Betancourt. I am celebrating

Indeed this is cause for celebration. There was an article in the 7 June Wall Street Journal (Weekend edition: "A Hostage to Fame") about Betancourt. She had been a captive of the FARC since 2002.

If that is how it happened, he did a very good thing! I am not a total McCain supporter, but we can cheer him when he does good things for our country! It raises him up in my estimation.

Now if it would just get wide reporting, so he can get SOME traction against Osama!

I am nasty? You post hate filled drivel on FR about John McCain regularly. Look in the mirror if you want to call someone nasty. Truth sure hurts when John McCain has done more in the service of his country than you throwing insulting hay makers at him from the comfort of your computer. Many of us are not happy with McCain but he is the Republican candidate and some of us realize he is far better than Obama. Would not hurt you to spend a little time thrashing Obama instead of burying the hatchet in McCain's back every chance you get.

“...it is just so disheartening to see those same kind of attacks here.”

It is. But we’ll have the last laugh. I just hope we can put up with them bitchin’ about him as President for four (or eight) years, LOL!

American WILL come to her senses. And if she doesn’t, four years of an administration WORSE than Carter’s will wake them up. ;)

GWB always supported URIBE against the marxist guerilla and their drug traffic and against CHAVEZ their best ally with CASTRO.

McCAIN here appears as the best URIBE’s support beside Obsama....

Excellent shot!

So, were the soldiers also released?

They aren't soldiers. They are civilian contractors.

No, but I've already written two posts explaining that I am fed up with the constant McCain bashing. Just sick of it, and not going to be quiet about it anymore. Some are diehard haters, and some are trolls, but the bashing on a site like this is just too much. My last words on the subject.

The very latest, sorry but it is in Spanish.

Latest reactions, including Pope Benedict XVI;

Uribe, “the end of the FARC is at hand”

How the Colombian military fooled the FARC’s secretariat;
http://www.noticias24.com/actualidad/?p=15653

Summary/Translation
The Colombian army infiltrated the echelon of the FARC to rescue the 15 hostages, among them Ingrid Betancourt, and had the 2 rebels believe they were going to an appointment with “Alfonso Cano” the current maximum leader of the FARC, said the Minister of Defense, Juan Manuel Santos.

“We are very happy, this is a gret blow which should make us and the entire world happy”, said the minister to the press.

Santos described how the operation recovered the hostages securely and without shooting a single bullet ...

....

The FARC members were neutralized onced they entered a helicopter (without shooting , I wonder if they just beat the heck out of them).

They explained the helicopter away as belonging to a ficticious organization.

You forget, this is NOT a GOP site, it is a conservative site. If this site liked the likes of Juan McCain, I would never have come here.

You are a very nasty and non conservative person. If the shoe fits, wear it.
