'Gay' man sues Bible publishers

A homosexual man is suing two major Christian publishers for violating his constitutional rights and causing emotional pain, because the Bible they publish refers to homosexuality as a sin.

Bradley LaShawn Fowler, 39, of Canton, Mich., is seeking $60 million from Zondervan and another $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing in lawsuits filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Press reported.

Fowler filed his claim against Grand Rapids-based Zondervan Monday, alleging its Bibles' references to homosexuality as a sin have made him an outcast from his family and contributed to physical discomfort and periods of "demoralization, chaos and bewilderment," the paper said.

He filed suit against Tennessee publisher Thomas Nelson in June.

Zondervan says that even if Fowler's claim is credible, he's suing the wrong party. A company spokesman told WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids that Zondervan doesn't translate the Bible or own the copyright for any of the translations but relies, instead, on the "scholarly judgment of credible translation committees."

Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Julian Abele Cook Jr. refused to appoint an attorney to represent Fowler in the Thomas Nelson case, saying the court "has some very genuine concerns about the nature and efficacy of these claims."

So there are less than 1% homosexuals that thing they are superior and are offended by the most popular book ever. Maybe the regular people should sue the minority for horrid sexual practices that disgust the majority.

A judge should throw this out immediately. This suit does not have any standing. The lawyers filing this suit should be ashamed.

If he read the Koran, he’d really be in emotional pain. And then, if he’s a real PC kind of guy (or a secret masochist) he might like it.

Just more assurance that anyone can file a lawsuit.

Winning is a whole other thing.

Bwahahahahahahahaha - what a maroon!! He should sue God, not the publishers. The ‘trial’ should last about 30 seconds. That’s about how long it should take for the bailiff to call the court into session, get everybody seated and have the judge declare that the plaintiff is an idiot and his case dismissed.

He should also have to pay all the court costs - THAT will cause him even more pain!!

As laughable as this lawsuit is now, it is a glimpse of what is yet to come once the institution of marriage has been totally degraded and belittled by this movement. Religions that criticize this ‘lifestyle’ will certainly be their next target. The agenda began with tolerance, moved on to accpetance, and will next have to be celebrated and glorified.

The liberal establishment continues to promote homosexuality and attack Christianity. Our religious freedom is being taken away and homosexuality is being pushed to our children.

If this guy can sue, so can I. There’s plenty of stuff in the Bible against me, too.

Why doesn't he sue his family? They seem to be the ones causing this guy his angst. Service of Process would be so much easier, because last I heard St. Peter's and St. Paul's heads are buried beneath St. Peters Basilica in Rome, and I sincerely doubt the Swiss Guard will allow anyone to drop a subpoena.

Similarly, I'm thinking Moses and the authors of the Torah are going to be truly difficult to tag. I could be wrong, however.

He’s representing himself because he couldn’t find a lawyer dumb enough to take it.

This homo must think he lives in Canada...where their courts take an opposing stance against the Bible. Especially the Bible’s denunciation of homosexuality.

Let’s hope that the Michigan courts, with close proximity to Canada, doesn’t follow Canada’s lead.

As I read the article, the judge is expressing his opinion that Fowler’s claims are dubious and not worthy of being pursued, at least in the one case. That is why he refused to grant a court-appointed attorney for Fowler. Fowler is representing himself in both suits but it appears that he made a request in his filings for have a taxpayer-funded attorney appointed to represent him. Since the case was just filed, it is too early for the judge to dismiss if the opposing parties haven’t had time to present their request and arguments for dismissal and then Fowler has a right to file arguments against the publishing company arguments. It takes time but don’t be surprised if the case is dismissed, with prejudice hopefully, within the next few weeks. I suspect that the story is going public right now in Fowler’s hope that some group like the ACLU will take the case for him (though I doubt the ACLU would even touch this one).

I think it said he is representing himself. probably couldn’t get a lawyer to take the case. I’m surprised the ACLU wouldn’t help but then they already have a plan and this is showing their cards.

“Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Julian Abele Cook Jr. refused to appoint an attorney to represent Fowler”

I thought you only got a free appointed lawyer for defensein you cannot afford one. Does this me we give free lawyers to people to sue private companies on silly-ness issues?
