Fox News is announcing that Tony Snow has died.
Tony was always honest. He said that the money became an issue and so he quit.
He was also a positive person so that’s all we know because he never whined.
beautiful ... thank you for posting that
Just a beautiful tribute. Thanks so much for posting it, Ali.
If anyone has stored up tears they need to release, this
is for you. Grab a few tissues.
Politico/Mike Allen did a surprisingly nice tribute to Tony.
Remembering Tony Snow
Go with God, brave and happy warrior.
Bahbah is right; Dana Perino does a fine job as WH Press Secretary and she doesn’t cede an inch.
That’s so kind of you. ((hugs)) I can’t imagine what it would be. He worked so hard .. so many long hours ... to provide for we 3 kids. Because of that, we really had pretty rare 1-on-1 time with him. It is absolutely the life-altering event of my life .. no doubt about it. Everything changed dramatically thereafter. And the times then were very very different. I really could write a book .... ;)
Special editions of O Reily, Greta and Jerry Rivers to start new. I hope someone is rolling digital.
Watching Bill O. (he has a cold)
Teary hugs, luv .... very depressing. Maybe work helped.
I’m not sure if I pinged you to #1204 ... I now have a crying headache. It will touch your heart deeply, and grab a tissue .. MORE HUGS.
We were lucky to have had great patriots like Mr Capra and Mr Berlin! I didn’t know that about Mrs. Berlin - thanks for the info!
There are some jewels out there these days that you wouldn’t consider to be fairly conservative. Alice Cooper (Vincent F Furnier) is reputed to be a fairly conservative man, which is at odds a bit with his public persona.
So there you go - Irving Berlin to Alice Cooper! :-)
Bill O’Reilly on Tony
“He elevated every situation he was in “...
I am so sorrty to hear this. He was such a good and gentle soul. I wish peace and strength for his family and friends. He will be missed.
I'll go look at it...I don't know if my aching heart can take much more....
I have dedicated my tunes today to Tony.
Scroll back to see other tunes. I just felt the need to do this.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
God bless you Tony. You lifted me up and gave me hope.
Now your reward is in heaven as the Lord receives you
into His outstretched arms and says, well done, good
and faithful servant.
1. William F. Buckley
2. Tim Russert
3. Tony Snow
Seems to always be in threes. I dont know why.
We sure did.
Quite a few years ago someone said that the live threads reminded them of chats with the neighbors over the backyard fence. That always stuck with me, because it seemed so to be such a great description.
LOL! I totally agree. :-)
This is quite interesting with Andy Card and BOR.
Card is saying that when Tony was a speechwriter for Bush 41, he almost helped shape policy....
That is a perfect description! Chats over the fence in the back yard. I am really going to miss the live threads.
I find it interesting that Andrew Card said they were trying to get Tony on board as press secretary back when he was first diagnosed. That means that they were trying to find a replacement for ol Scotty boy.
That is beautiful. Is there a statue in front of that tree in the middle?
What a decent, wonderful man he was. I am so sad to hear this, and am praying for him and his family.
Thanks. Yes, that is a 6’ statue of Jesus.
So true ... he really has set the standard in
so many ways: media professional, press secretary,
solid Christian, devoted husband and father.
What a sterling role model for us all.
Hard to believe that my whole day has been spent
on someone I never even personally knew ... but he,
his spirit, optimism and integrity truly touched my
heart and soul. I’m truly sorrowful .. like I lost
a loved one.
Notice how BOR skipped over Scott when mentioning the last Press Secretary.
That's worth regular size font. ;-)
I am so giggling over "bum Smarties."
You’re not alone dear SW, look at this thread :)
I’ve been in and out all day, but keep coming back here because it’s...Tony.
I guess we had to endure the incompetency of Some-
one else to really appreciate and be grateful for all
the excellence Tony brought to this most critical position.
I have Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, and I am downloading it now. However, I don’t have any Skunk Baxter. Shame on me!
Thanks for the suggestions!
Quite a few years ago someone said that the live threads reminded them of chats with the neighbors over the backyard fence.
That’s a lovely description and so apt.
LOL-BOR is bloviating. He is barely giving Ari a chance to speak. Kept wanting Ari to compare himself to Tony. Gosh-poor Ari
LOL! Those were his exact words! Doesn’t it just sound like
He sent me about 20 little Halloween-sized Smarties. I ate
some of them, but just had to keep a few just because. He also signed the picture that he sent.
I wish I had gotten to meet him, but the memories we all have
here will make me smile after the tears....
I had to tear myself away from the FR and TV around noon to work out with my trainer and I made her turn Fox News on the minute I got there! I’ve been here since I returned around 1:30.
You should read the APs obit, on Snow. It reads more like an op-ed piece than a tribute. Gives one sentence to his speech writing days, nothing about his contributions to the Rush Limbaugh program, and many lines about how he “scolded” and talked down to the press corps.
That is SO special, luvvie .. HUGS.
What a dear man.
Bill Plante just mentioned Helen Thomas has been ill. Anyone know anything about that?
That is a beautiful spot ... reminds me very much of a place in central FL.
Yes, a gentle soul!
The infants in the press corps needed to be talked to like children. They have all been more than deserving to be verbally spanked, and only the Snowman could do it with a smile.
It does! I'm still giggling.
One time he read my post and said my screen name on the air. It caught me so off-guard, that I think my heart stopped for a second and my eyes opened so wide that I'm surprised they closed again.
Everyone of us knows what FRiends Bob and Tony where.
This is going to be interesting.
Good GRIEF- Bill Plante becomes actually human while talking about Tony with the bloviator.
I don’t know if anybody else has posted this link earlier on this thread, but here are Tony’s posts on Free Republic.
The final one is bittersweet of course, knowing what we know now. But I think it’s appropriate as a personal optimistic farewell from Tony to his friends here.
I think he loved to surprise us that way...and he KNEW that
we were listening!
I would nearly fall out of my chair when he would post to
me. I have saved those posts. :D
Bill Plante did a good job of describing Tony’s essence.
Were Beckel and Tony that close? If so, I had no idea.
So different they were.
Tony never talked down to anyone, but if anyone deserves to be talked down to, it’s the WH press corps. Being with them is probably like being with a bunch of 7th graders with raging ADD after they’ve each had a liter of Mountain Dew.
Bob actually looks like he has been crying.
