So does this mean that the individual states can still refuse to allow offshore drilling?

True enough about George W. Bush.

He is not very effective when it comes to using the bully pulpit.

He should have been more forceful about ANWAR during his two terms. And why did he wait all these years to finally unsign his old man’s edict about offshore drilling?

As for T. Boone Pickens, he’s been running his “wind farm” commercials here in Maine, and I always yell at the TV when he says “we can’t drill our way out of this problem.”

Why not? The Saudis have done OK for themselves by drilling away, and so has Venezuela, Iran, Russia, the UAE, etc.

We have plenty of oil offshore and on land.

What we lack are elected leaders with the fortitude to drill for this oil and to publicly tell the environmentalists to go pound sand.

Obama will reinstate the ban on drilling in the OCS if elected. But what does it matter anyway. China will suck all the oil from our own country before Congress will let us drill there.

True enough about George W. Bush.

He is not very effective when it comes to using the bully pulpit.  No he's not.  And that's too bad.  I think he could have been a much better President if he didn't have the propensity to add in extra "s"s into his statements, and garble his words.   And that's just the mechanics of it.  He doesn't know when to pipe up and give weight to his own policies.  He went months and months without forcefully publicly pushing the war effort at one point.  Then he opened his yap and the popularity of the war and his own standing went up considerably.  And then he sunk back into the primoridal muck again.

He should have been more forceful about ANWAR during his two terms. And why did he wait all these years to finally unsign his old man’s edict about offshore drilling?  It is amazing to me how much time and effort some men expend to become president, and how little energy they have once elected to implement Conservative policy.  It's almost like, "Ah folks, yoo-hoo, over here.  I really really hate to do this, but I would like to propose a Conservative policy.  I'm dreadfully sorry.  I hope I won't offend anyone, but could you take a look at this for a second.  I won't be long.

As for T. Boone Pickens, he’s been running his “wind farm” commercials here in Maine, and I always yell at the TV when he says “we can’t drill our way out of this problem.”  That's the one.  This was the second time I'd seen it, and the first time I didn't notice it until it was almost done.  I was yelling at the tube also.

Why not? The Saudis have done OK for themselves by drilling away, and so has Venezuela, Iran, Russia, the UAE, etc.  I'm not sure what the deal is, but it is amazing the folks who have gone totally green between the ears.  Pickens can't be this stupid.  The guy is a bright person.  Yet here he is, hawking wind farms and the such.  It's just idiotic.

We have plenty of oil offshore and on land.  Yes we do.  And I just heard today that Brazil has made a big discovery.  There's plenty of oil.  I'm all for developing alternative energy sources as long as they are sound ideas, but there isn't any catastropic impetus to go insanely green.

What we lack are elected leaders with the fortitude to drill for this oil and to publicly tell the environmentalists to go pound sand.  You are exactly right.  We have a bunch of yoyos, who are either brain dead followers, or brain dead idiots who are bound and determined to do the wrong things no matter who objects.  It's rare you see a person back there in Washington who can actually think on their feet, other than to cover their own ass.

It's embarassing!  It's also infuriating.

but conservatives believe in economic freedom at any time. Not just right before an election.

If “Conservatives” don’t get their collective heads out of their nether regions long enough to get behind the president on this one, little thing, it may be the end of economic freedom.

Um. Because the price of oil wasn’t so high then. We “conservatives” would not have supported him then. There was NO chance congress would have lifted the ban then. I don’t believe any of us are bright enough to support him on it now. So there’s no chance congress will lift the ban when they get off their drunken vacations. Heck, most of us aren’t bright enough to back McCain on it either. Therefore, congress won’t lift the ban in the future, either.

White House press secretary Dana Perino says Bush is acting now in hopes of spurring Congress to act. So far, lawmakers have shown no interest in doing so.

It's ok, legislators who waste us and promote a wasteful government don't sense any need to help the US out, once in a while, from being wasted by man-made famines and what not.

President Bush is backing Reid and Pelosi into a corner and with their 9% approval rating, it’s not going to be pretty.

Good move.

You don't get it do you! Reservoirs found are smaller and more difficult to get to as each day passes. Please... the days of sticking a straw into the ground 50ft and presto, here comes the oil is OVER!

And your constant use of the term 'ignorant' is quite funny as I read your posts.

Give up my man, he either does not have the capacity to understand what you are saying or he is being intentionally obtuse.

Stop feeding him

“It’s funny how liberals, despite all their compassion, only want to push their hair-brain agendas UNTIL their pocket books are getting hit. Until they are mugged.”

I wish more would be like that. What’s with these leaders, do they want to destroy the country? Is this some sort of communist revolution to destroy the United States? I don’t understand how anyone else could possibly be against lowering the price of oil. Nancy said she would lower the price but it seems like she is delibertly doing the opposite. What I hate about these type of liberals is that they appear to hate the country that gave them all their opportunites that they are now using to SCREW people like you and me, in other words, patriotic hard working decent people. It’s disgusting!!!! And as far as President Bush goes, he needs to show some real leadership and stand up to these traitors in Congress the way Ronald Reagan stood up to the evil Empire. He just has to come right out and publically state that these types of congressmen and trying to destroy the American way of life, and then stand back and watch them scream like Hillary did when they were called on not being patriotic.

You're right, I don't need to keep feeding him. Usually Kellynla is rational but I don't know what happened to him on this subject.
