Six men remain in the Scott County jail following what police call a brutal assault on a father trying to protect his daughter.
Shakopee police say as the crowd was leaving Valleyfair Amusement Park around midnight on the 4th of July, the victim's daughter was confronted by two men.
"The 12-year-old daughter was either touched or slapped in the buttocks area," Scott County Attorney Patrick Ciliberto said. "The father confronted (the men) by yelling at them for what they had done to his daughter," he added.
Police say the two men called their friends, who were also in the park. The group of seven men and a juvenile then confronted the father.
"They beat him to the ground and then, the evidence that we have, when he was on the ground, they used their feet on him. They were kicking him in the face when he was down," Ciliberto said.
According to the criminal complaints, the men were stomping on the 41-year-old father as he lay on the ground, unconscious.
He suffered severe head injuries, including a fractured right orbital bone and possible subdural bleeding on the brain. "We don't know if there are permanent injuries yet," the County Attorney said.
Shakopee Police found the suspects in the parking lot. Seven of them were arrested and one man ran from the scene and police are still looking for him. Of the seven taken into custody, one was a 14-year-old.
The six adults charged and held in jail are Devondre Evans-Lewis, Andrew Shannon, Darris Evans, Terry Arnold, Derry Evans, and Anthony Gildersleeve.
The Scott County Attorney says several of the men have criminal histories and they are all from the Twin Cities metro area. They range in age from 18 to 22-years-old.
All six adults have been charged with 3rd degree felony assault causing substantial bodily harm.
On the other hand, if it is Black perps and a White victim, then it is just viewed as a "normal" assault without any charges of Hate Crimes. That's why I feel Hate Crimes Laws are rascist by their very nature and should be taken off the books.
Eight guys are stomping one guy and you are in a ‘firearms-free’ venue. How are you going to intervene? Especially if the victim is already out of the fight. Now it’s 8 on one, and you are the 1.
Get a handful of guys to go with you (2 or 3 extra is really all it would take) and now their odds are not so overwhelming.
I just don’t think white kids are allowed to run in packs like that these days. And there aren’t that many out trying to pimp out girls at the amusement parks. I challenge you to refute that.
Didn’t the article say the assault happened around midnight? Normally those parks really clear out by that time as most parents want to get their kids home before then. I’m assuming there was at least one woman there as she was punched by one of the perps.
We constantly see bogus white on black so-called hate crimes like the "Duke lacrosse rape case" trumpeted to the high heavens 24/7 on every darn channel......
Then we see real crimes like the "Knoxville Horror" where a pair of white teens are kidnapped, raped, and tortured to death in the most barbaric way imaginable and......
Nothing. Not a peep. It doesn't fit your PC template, so, the media simply doesn't cover it.
That's what we're sick of, brown sugar. The double standard.
Oh, and by the way, if you're not familiar with the FBI stats on the instance of violent white on black crime compared to black on white crime, it might interest you to look them up. They are quite eye-opening.
If I were not packing, I'd have herded my wife and/or daughter away and just tried to get out of there. Did you see the mug shots of those dudes? Best not to mess with them. If I saw a dude or two like those guys approaching me, I'd be reaching into my pocket getting ready to do a fast-draw. If I didn't have a weapon, I'd consider myself outnumbered and out gunned and would decide discretion was the better part of valor.
As far as I’m concerned RACISM is a matter of intentionally harming someone who’s INNOCENT physically or verbally because of their race.
No one here as far as I can tell is operating on that level. People are thinking in terms of SELF-PRESERVATION and FACTS.
I’m still trying to understand why any crime becomes an issue of race. I think what happened to this family is horrible, no matter their race. But because the perps have “ethnic” names people start ragging on diversity and black people. I know tons of black teenagers who make good grades and a fine members of my community. I know black boy scouts, cheerleaders, athletes, student leaders, what the hell do these a-holes have to do with black people in general?
Yet, oh so predictable to everyone except the asshats we keep putting in office. When things slip too far, God bless the people who still know to fight. In the end, it may only be you and yours to protect yourself, your family and the things and people you love.
Well then someone needs to tell the white skater boys and goths that go down my street they are not supposed to run in packs. I’m not really aware of a race of teenager that doesn’t run in a “pack”.
I imagine the father thought he was just dealing with some teenagers, and talked to them like a parent, but it turned out they were a bunch of thuggish gangsters, and they wanted to show him they didn’t give a shiz if he was a parent, so they went jungle on his a—. I can see how it happened. It’s this culture that doesn’t lock up and throw away the key, that TOLERATES this kind of behavior, it just begets more of it.

When I posted this story, my only thought was that it was a heinous crime that should be publicized, not that it was a race story.
We now know the race of the perps. As far as I know, the names or race of the victim and his daughter have not been released. Maybe this was a racial attack, maybe it was not. There is not enough information to know. To assume that this was a racial attack or to make comments to the effect that the race of the perps explains the crime makes Freepers look like a bunch of racists.
These are thugs. I don’t care if they are white thugs or black thugs. It pisses me off when Jackson or Sharpton assume that any white on black crime is a race based hate crime and it should justifiably piss off blacks when whites do the same thing in reverse.
Yeah, these perps lived down to the worst racial stereotypes of blacks. Some of the comments on this thread live down to the worst stereotypes of conservatives.

4th of July, not sure what time the fireworks were around that area (10:00 - 10:30PM?) plus getting an ice cream or something afterwards and it could pretty easily get to close to midnight without noticing.
Even if the victim were to die, I don’t think MN has the death penalty, which is a shame as the killer of Dru Sjodin and these winners would all be great candidates for old sparky.
I’m still astonished that they were out on such a low bail. Wonder who the judge was.

Anyone of any race who perpetrates a crime like this is a subhuman -- black, white, or Asian. If you neglect to notice, though, that black men are committing the most heinous crimes wayyyy out of proportion to their percent of the population, you're part of the problem just as much as a dumb white liberal who argues for short jail sentences.
You can think I'm a racist if you want -- I really don't care. I'd rather live in a world surrounded by Thomas Sowells and Walter Williamses than white trash in wife beaters with their underwear sticking out, but I will not ignore the friggin TRUTH that is staring you and me in the face -- the violent crime problem is largely a young black male crime problem.
So the proper thing for him to have done is to slink away, begging them to stop groping his little girl?
Maybe that's the answer for the "New Castrati", but thank God there are still some MEN out there who take the safety and honor of their families seriously.
This guy had a choice: to handle this situation on his feet...or on his knees. Either of his choices would have been remembered buy his daughter FOREVER.
Personally, I commend him for making the right choice. Now, besides mine, there is at least one more little girl out there who knows that her daddy will ALWAYS be there to protect her, no matter what.

Honestly, I think it is exasperation at the media (it is in my case, anyway).
I think it is because the widespread occurance of black on white crime is being ignored not only in the media, but by society at large. No one dares say anything about it because to do so would be to invite the ugly and unshakable label of "racist."
That leads to frustration. It's the elephant in the room everyone is too scared to point out.
I think it’s that we feel that black thugs have been allowed to hide behind the skirts of the civil rights movement, and call the people they beat “racists” and get away with murder, and like the general muslim population keeps quiet about terrisn, you don’t find very much of the black community speaking out about situations like this. We have to figure it’s because most black people figure whitey got it coming.
I will admit there is a disparity with 86% of whites being murdered by whites and 94% blacks being murdered by blacks according to the US Dept. of Justice, but I could not see how, just because these knuckleheads had ethnic names, the story became an indictment of blacks in general. The post starting it out questioning these perp’s names and escalating from there.
