Andrew Breitbart, CEO of Breitbart.com, had a great op ed in the Washington Times yesterday about how Hollywood oppresses Republicans and conservatives in La La Land. Detailing the travails of Republicans in Hollywood -- including destruction by Hollywood's liberals of personal property owned by identified Republicans -- Breitbart laments the "bullying" the self-proclaimed tolerant lefties mete out to those who walk the Republican side of the street.
Breitbart says of this ideological inbreeding:
But Los Angeles is a one-company town. And because of bullying (or what Democrats would call blacklisting or “political discrimination” if the shoe were on the other foot), Hollywood has become a one-party town. History will show this dynamic hurt both the creative and the political processes. In the absence of checks and balances we end up with a system that creates a mainstream film about Ronald Reagan -- written, produced and directed by narcissistic and myopic partisans who only viewed the Gipper through the lens of partisan AIDS activism. Like anyone would watch an epic movie about America’s victory in the Cold War.
Hollywood is so left-wing that it hurts its own bottom line by constantly producing films that no one wants to see. Especially their current crop of dreck about the war in Iraq. Breitbart mentions the many failures of these left-wing, anti-Iraq war films.
More than a dozen box office failures vilify the troops without a single counter-perspective seeing the light of day. Yet one impactful and heartfelt pro-war film, Brothers at War, dares to tell the story of a noble and patriotic American family yet can’t find a distributor.
But there is another way to see how little America cares for these anti-American bombs. It is instructive to take a quick look at the box office takes for these unmitigated disasters to see how Americans have reacted to these films....

Changr the term “HUMANS” to “AMERICANS”
So, the original planet of the Apes should be boycotted because we screwed things up? Terminator? Blade Runner? Running Man? All the other movies that depict a dystopian future?
The movie has two very positive stories in it. The reason the humans are fat was explained in the movie. Not because they were lazy, but because of the effects of micro-gravity and bone loss.
Realistically, the environment should be a conservative issue. There is nothing conservative about waste, over-consumption, trashing things just because you can. It's the manner in how the environmental issues are dealt with that makes us different from the lefties. We were told to be good stewards, but also to have dominion over the land and animals.
I'm as concerned about clean air and water as the liberals, I just don't think draconian laws that inhibit business are the solution, but rather that business is the solution.
Years ago, 1969 to be exact, I worked with a guy who went to see Costa-Gavras’ propaganda piece “Z”. He told me that the film taught him a lot about what was going on, which taught me how Leftist’s propaganda infects the mind.
“We’ve seen about 5% of the number of movies we used to.”

Yet nobody on the right has tried the obvious. For even a tiny budget of under $1M, they could go to Iraq with war veterans as no-name actors, hire Iraqis as extras, and make a movie that might bring in over $100M, even direct to DVD.
For plot, use the war stories of the veterans—a thousand times more stories than you could possibly use, and at very low cost. And by being honest about the professionalism of US soldiers, the military would gladly give full support for the production, as well as supply vast amounts of stock footage.
Probably the biggest expense would be in the makeup involved in showing al-Qaeda crimes against Iraqis. The Iraqis would be more than glad to portray the hated al-Qaeda as the beasts they are. No need to show *any* sympathy for al-Qaeda at all.
And there would be no problem in translating the suffering the Iraqis endured at the hands of the villains. Their memories are very fresh of having family members slaughtered, and this movie would be a memorial to their loved ones, and show the depth of their sadness and anger.
It would be acting, but it isn’t acting. No actor could fake that.
Ironically, while it would be an American war movie, the Americans would pale against the Iraqis themselves, expressing what they endured, and their hopes for the future.
No bones about it, as well. The would be a pro-America, pro-military, pro-Iraq war, and pro-democratic Iraqi movie. And while Hollywood would bitterly shun it, they would have no hand in it.
And no amount of leftist hate and vitriol would stop people from seeing it, either.
If the Fairness Doctrine gets pushed in talk radio, can we force hollywood to also be fair to both sides of an issue?

Wall E argues that if people become over dependent on a benign goverment that gives them everything they become fat and lazy and unproductive. Hard to argue with that.
If you have cable and tons of movie channels and read the descriptions, most have ridiculously liberal tones, evil corporations, gays, gays, gays, more movies about gays, more evil corporations, anti war, anti war, etc.
I always wonder WHO are the idiots who bought these pitches, it seems like you could sell ANYTHING to hollywood and get it produced, as long as it strictly adheres to hard left storylines.

Book?? not fiction, mainly biographies, American military books or magazines....
Music??? yes- but I mainly buy my CD’s on e-bay for a fraction of the price they sell them in stores....

The point being you consume literature and music that isn’t just for children. Why shouldn’t there be films that aren’t for children.
no- my point is I do all I can not to support hollywood....reading a book, magazine of listening to a Led Zeppelin album does not equate to supporting hollywood...more times then not seeing a big screen movie does...
You missed my point. What’s the different between the film industry and the music industry?
