Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's advice to reporters who don't get his energy agenda: Check your hearing.
Reid, D-Nev., may look like a mild-mannered man, but when he's backed into a corner, this former boxer comes out swinging. On Thursday, the object of his ire was the Fourth Estate as he lashed at reporters quizzing him over stalled Democratic energy proposals.
At a "pen and pad" a more casual, off-camera chat with reporters Reid attacked and scolded correspondents in attendance, telling them he's "really disappointed" in how they have been writing his energy plans, which include a bill to reign in speculation in the energy futures markets.
According to two Senate Democratic aides, Reid and other Democratic leaders were particularly stung by an article Thursday in The New York Times. It followed on several other reports that have highlighted Democrats' attempts to fend off defections from their ranks to GOP-sponsored amendments, measures that would permit new drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf and in the West for oil shale.

Reporters tried to pin Reid down Thursday on the amendment issue.
In the exchange, Reid told one reporter she should "watch the [Senate] floor more often. ... You might learn something."
Another reporter explained she had watched the Senate proceedings and said it was not clear he was ... offereing separate amendments, to which Reid asked the reporter if she "spoke English."
"Turn up your Miracle Ear," Reid added.
Reid spokesman Jim Manley later told the reporter his boss's comments were a show of "frustration," not desperation.

The House No. 2 Republican, Roy Blunt of Missouri, told reporters today, "Clearly we've built a fire on energy that they're feeling the heat from."

I think I’ll spend an hour calling Reid’s office like I did yesterday. He is such a jerk!
Actually Antonio Villaraigosa is a mexican racist. He should have been kicked out of office for his closed door meetings with mexican president Felipe De Jesus Calderon Hinojosa. The mayor is also a member of la raza, an extremely virulent mexican racist cult.
T Boone Pickens is famous for thinking big. He founded his Texan oil company, Mesa Petroleum, in 1956 with just $2,500 in the bank. After a string of audacious takeovers he turned it into an independent empire that challenged the big oil companies, and today he is worth $3bn.
Now this straight-talking Southerner is launching the biggest and most audacious project of his career. This month he will make the first down payment on 500 wind turbines at a cost of $2m each. The order is the first material step towards his goal of building the world's largest wind farm.
Over the next four years he intends to erect 2,700 turbines across 200,000 acres of the Texan panhandle. The scheme is five times bigger than the world's current record-holding wind farm and when finished will supply 4,000 megawatts of electricity - enough to power about one million homes.
"Don't get the idea that I've turned green," Pickens tells the Guardian in the Dallas offices of his new venture Mesa Power. "My business is making money, and I think this is going to make a lot of money."

That should be 'rein', unless Reid plans to personally dominate the oil speculation market like it was, oh I dunno, real estate.
How does one drill "ferviously?" Sounds like a word from a Dr. Seuss book.
Regards,
Harry POS Reid BUMP!
Ah give him a break, he soiled his diapher and it needs to be changed.
I wonder if futures trading is moved off shore how is this market going to be monitored by the regulatory agencies in the U.S.? All sorts of trades might, just might be regulated and have information gathered here but Dubai is not within the jurisdiction of some U.S. Commodity Futures Board.
Futures traders can be reined in, just raise margin requirements but whether this is a good idea is another matter.
perhaps feverishly would have worked better.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is pushing for a vote tomorrow on his
version of an energy bill that does nothing to decrease our dependence
on foreign oil.
Reids bill does nothing to lift the offshore drilling ban, or open up
rich oil fields in northern Alaska, or expand our nuclear capacity.
Even worse...
Reid is using Senate rules to BLOCK any and all attempts to get a vote
on lifting the offshore drilling ban! This is classic hardball political
tactics and we need to strike back just as hard!
+ + Action Item #1 Fax The Senate Now!
Reid is pushing for a cloture vote tomorrow (Friday) that will block
any amendments. That means we have very little time. Thats why I want
to flood every Senate office with faxes right now demanding that the
Senate have a real debate on the energy crisis and pass a bill that
lifts the ban on offshore drilling BEFORE Congress takes its month-
long summer holiday.
Go here right now to schedule your faxes:
http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?U=9431&CID=108&RID=17623090
Or send your own faxes. We have sample letters
and contact information for you at the above link.
+ + Action Item #2 Call Harry Reid Now!
In addition, I want to flood Harry Reids offices with calls from
citizens demanding that he allow the Republican amendments be heard
to his energy bill. We must shut down the phone lines in the Senate!
TALKING POINTS:
#1 I am outraged that Sen. Reid is pushing for a cloture vote
on S. 3268 without allowing amendments to be heard.
#2 The energy crisis deserves a real debate in Congress. I want
Sen. McConnells proposed amendments to be debated.
#3 I demand that Congress take action to lift the ban on drilling
on the Outer Continental Shelf BEFORE Congress takes its month-
long summer holiday.
PHONE NUMBERS:
Sen. Harry Reid: DC 202-224-5556 or 202-224-3542
Nevada numbers: 702-388-5020, 775-686-5750, 775-882-7343
Thank you for taking action!
Steve
P.S. Again, the key vote is expected to take place tomorrow.
Please forward this message and alert your friends.
P.P.S. A reminderwe are delivering petitions EVERY DAY to Sen. Reids
office. Thank you for signing the petition! Your voice is being
represented!
Republicans can't play hardball.
Thanks for the thought.
Sincerely,
The GOP
You are good at wise cracks, but how many phone calls did you make?
nothing wrong with making money.
Harry Reid’s days as majority leader are numbered. Politicians don’t lose their cool like that unless they are under enormous pressure.
"You'll take it and you'll like it."
That includes Wind, Solar, Nuclear, Coal and Drilling on available acreage.
The Democrats want to drill only in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
However, just as it is with the new solar farm West of my house here in the desert, the environ-mentals will file lawsuit after lawsuit with environ-mental friendly judges to block alternative energy sources.
In the case of the solar farms the environ-mentals say the power line to San Diego corrupts the view of the desert, might (MIGHT) harm a bird or god forbid leave tire tracks in the sand during construction.
Democrats are Dangerous To America.
Good plan
Punch drunk is the term that comes to mind
Most Americans haven't realized that they have LOST 50% of their wealth. If you had money or a 401K in the stock market in 2003 since the dollar has weakened roughly 50% even though you've still got your money it's only worth half as much. Wait until the American stu-sheeple figure this one out. We haven't even touched on what the real inflation numbers REALLY are (it's not 2% that's for sure), then we can move over and talk about social security a year or two from now when we will be increasing the debt to pay for this, but hey we have 9 trillion dollars to pay for a drug plan that nobody (except the politicians) wanted. You would be lucky to have your money & wealth OUTSIDE of the United States.
And if one says "Two-Hit" fast enough, it sounds like "twit"
Simple enough, he doesn't have a financial interest in Nuclear.
His biggest seller right now is Hot Air.
Living in the desert I like rain better :)
Hmmnn. Let me guess, youre an investor.
not in wind, windmills don’t produce enough energy to produce another windwill, if windmills were a viable energy source the dutch would be a world superpower
That's a great line.
Don't make the mistake of putting your words in Harry Reids mouth ;)
As long as they brought it up first, it's worth repeating this story from 2006: Reid Accepted Free Boxing Tickets While a Related Bill Was Pending.
-PJ
He’s wrong when he says we can’t drill our way out of this problem.
...this former boxer comes out swinging.”
The only place Harry “The Body” Reid could possibly come out swinging is at the playground.
You've got to love it. Harry may just have made himself a few media enemies with his insulting little snit.
Don’t you mean “nueve por ciento”?
Senator Dinghy, You must not be satisfied with 9% cause it sure looks like You are shooting for 2%!
Did the reporter say “Merci beaucoup”?
And according to Wikipedia he’s developing a wind farm in west Texas. No wonder he’s promoting ‘alternative’ energy.
Thats Fantastic! Dinghy Harry Reid really Lost It! He went into Mental Meltdown! and abusing Reporters like that wont be taken lightly nor Forgotten for a very Long Time. Dinghy Reid is going to need some new “oars” to row his Dinghy soon:-) Maybe he can pick up one newly cast away “oar” from John Edwards after the other night.
Maybe Dingy Harry Reid has been drilling for too long in Bugeyes Pelosi’s cowpie that was runover by a wagonwheel and keeps coming up with a dry hole:-)
Bicycles won’t work for the elderly! My mom and her husband are in their 80s they cannot ride bikes. I am 57 and I don’t even ride bikes anymore. We have NO public transportation here in Lake Jackson Texas NONE. There is only one Taxi service here and it is in the next town. You drive your car or you don’t go. I have the AC so high now that I am sweating indoors. When I run errands, and I started this when gas was 1.50 a gallon, I plan my route, all right turns. If I miss a stop, I wait till NEXT time I am out. My car stays in the garage almost ALL the time now.
COMMENT:
Thank you and it's true.
If I was a Republican and worked in politics the Democrats would be hit daily with ads showing their ignorance of common sense solutions for our energy crisis.
Tying Obama to his supporting cast of Nancy and Hairy in the House and Senate showing just how out of control the situation will be with three radical idealists in control.
Comment:
Can you expound on that comment?
I think we can drill our way out of this crisis if America makes an all out maximum program effort pursuing all avenues of energy along with expanded drilling.
As I said earlier, just West of me will be built a 6,500 acre solar farm generating enough electricity to power 500,000 homes, so the San Diego news paper reports.
The problem is the environ-mentals are filing lawsuit after lawsuit against building a power line to carry that electricity to San Diego.
I live in the Coachella Valley, windmills scar the whole west end, all they have produced is subsidies for the investors, the electricity if you choose to use it comes at a premium. Wind power is a joke, it can only be used to sell in peak periods to other users, because it is not 100% predictable. No like hydro, pump backs, where you can store the energy. Solar we got plenty of, but I see no rush to jump into that, we have millions of acres with nothing on them but bugs, which is reason enough not to exploit the areas.
Expounding won’t convince you, will it?
We can’t solve the problem without drilling and refining, can we?
or they turn around and walk away.

Comment:
I take it by your posting name of savedbygrace that you probably claim to be a Christian.
If you do make that claim, why the snarky, un-Christian like attitude.
Is it because you do not want to agree with anyone who thinks T. Boone is on the right track or that he donated millions to Oklahoma State and not to the University of Oklahoma.
We have known in this country for at least 40 years that we faced an oil supply problem in the future.
Some of us Oil Field Trash were saying 30 years ago that we should have more onshore American refineries and needed to open more areas to exploration along with alternative energy sources.
We worried back then that the NIMBY, tea sipping. bow tie, ice cream britches and sand dipper shoe crowd of political folks (Environ-Mental’s, Selfish Liberal Democrats) in Washington and New York did not understand the importance of taking needed steps to insure America’s energy independence.
However, drilling alone will not solve the overall problem unless a person believes like JR Ewing that all you have to do is drill a hole in the ground, build a Quick Trip gas station and immediately start pumping gasoline.
You may not like T Boone Pickens but his message of we have to explore all energy alternatives is nothing more than common sense.
Common sense, which Hairy Reid, Nancy Pelosie nor the Democrat party seems to have in great amounts.
The bible I study says in Mat 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Cheap fossil fuels are a thing of the past.
It would therefore be prudent on a Christian America not only to search/explore (Seek)/(Findeth) all available energy areas and sources but also to drill or produce (Knocketh) those areas for not only today’s problem but also for those we will encounter in the coming years.
I told the truth, and you proved me right with your reply. You will not be convinced by any arguments that run counter to your opinion.
BTW, you ignored the fact that I included refining in my previous post. Of course we have to refine the oil we bring up by drilling. Of course we can produce enough oil to get ourselves out of this present problem.
This present problem is simple: There is a worldwide shortfall of a few million barrels a day. That gap can be closed by domestic drilling. But Pickens and the Dims who agree with him want to make the problem into a thousand year problem (an exaggeration, but only a bit of one), and since oil is assumed to be unable to solve the long term deficiencies, they conclude that drilling can’t solve the present problem. Balderdash. Solve the present problem first, which CAN be done by domestic drilling (and refining), to produce a few million barrels a day.
Eph 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
(I’m not saved by anything I do or don’t do. If you criticize my salvation, you criticize the One who has saved me. Are you sure that’s the direction you want to take?)
All the male cats and female too that I've ever known can do that.
I do not know what kind of bug crawled into your coffee but you seem to have a bone, quarrel, vendetta and hidden agenda to pick with T. Boone Pickens because he agreed with a very small part of something said by the dastardly enemy.
I do wish you would quit with the Gotcha game.
You keep going back and saying you have to convince me of an oil shortage.
What part of my posting, “We have a shortage of American oil production” do you not understand?
Yes, I will repeat, we do have a shortage of American oil and yes, a hell bent drilling program will alleviate in the short term our so-called current manufactured energy crisis.
However, as I have tried repeatedly to point out, it is pure foolishness for anyone to believe that a full-bore drilling program will alleviate our long-term energy needs.
Nancy Pelosie and the naïveté Obama Democrats want to drill for our oil needs in the 700 million barrel Strategic Petroleum Reserve to cure our problems.
What the US needs is a concerted effort using ALL energy sources (Wind, Solar, Nuclear, Coal, Hydrogen, Hydroelectric and Oil) to make us truly energy independent from foreign oil.
Because T. Boone or any person (God Forbid) who says anything that agrees with anyone not deemed a pure conservative by you and some other anti T. Boone posters to be an acceptable source, shows reluctance on your and their part not to take good advice positively.
As for judging you as to your Christianity, I am not.
I just thought it was odd that someone using your religious log in name would be so abrupt with another Freeper.
I was pointing out that some self-avowed Saintly Christians Turn Off sinners and other not so secure Christians with their Sister Bertha Better Than You, Amen Pew, In The First Self Righteous Church religious fervor.
Just my lowly opinion and nothing more, Amen.
