Shoot First, Ask Later - In Prince George's, a drug bust goes awry.
Washington Post ^ | August 7, 2008 | Masthead Editorial

THE DRUG raid by Prince George's County law officers on the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo last week was a Keystone Kops operation from start to finish.

Acting on a tip that a 32-pound package of marijuana had been sent by Federal Express from Arizona to Mr. Calvo's home (addressed to his wife, Trinity Tomsic), Prince George's police swung into action. Which is to say they got on the phone, calling law enforcement agencies to see who might have a SWAT team available to bust the unsuspecting Calvo family. (It seems the police department's own team was tied up.) After being turned down at least once, they finally struck a deal with the Prince George's Sheriff's Office, whose track record with domestic disputes is extensive but whose experience with drug busts is slight. And it showed.

Every home should have a "suitable" barrier which causes the unauthorized entrants (sanctioned or otherwise) to spend at least three minutes breaching, and make enough noise to alert the occupants, during which time they should retrieve weapons, which should be nearby and ready.

"One of these days".... the above will happen. They'll kick in the wrong door and take just a little too long doing it and lose several men in the process.

It's like Squantos says...."eventually you'll win the home invasion lottery." Eventually, the jack booted thugs will kick in the wrong door at "o-dark-thirty" and have a real "oh-shit!" sort of moment.

That wasn’t the point of my mentioning the earlier thread. I just wanted to direct everyone’s attention to the original story and the comments posted there. That’s all.

Yeah....that makes sense.

"Never mind."

"suitable" barrier

the best I could do in this old farmhouse would be to embed claymores in the walls of the foyer...but that would be illegal...

which is why leo prolly is hesistant to invade the 'big fishs' home who has money to burn and doesnt give a ratzazz about society at all, while choosing the soft targets instead...

the police here are stupid.

they investigated my laptop burglary and concluded i stole it!

you should have seen these two! he, probably 275-300 lbs, she, probably 250. her cruiser tilted.

i waited 14 days and paid $17.00 to get the report and complained to their superivisor.

he called me several days later. i told him, not only am i insulted, but now the insurance company will not pay me.

he said, oh don’t worry. i know you did not steal your own computer—you gave us the serial number.

the insurance co paid.

Naw man... :-) Judicious use of re-bar and bar stock goes a LONG way in slowing people down coming through doors! Pretty-ing it up can be a trick. :-)

If anybody recalls...there is a FREEPER in Baltimore that had the Maryland Transit {Airport] police come to his door and arrested him...took his computer....a legal handgun...and marched him off because they thought he had phoned in a bomb threat to the Baltimore Airport.

Of course it wasn’t him. The police googled George Orwell and his name popped up....as he is an avid Orwell fan.

Long story short....he’s got a multi-million dollar lawsuit pending against them.

PS: Good Luck George!

And yesterday, county police announced the arrest of a deliveryman and another person suspected in a scheme to smuggle hundreds of pounds of marijuana by shipping packages addressed to unsuspecting recipients such as the Calvos.

“...The sheriff, Michael Jackson, seems embarrassed by the whole episode. He should be....”

He SHOULD be kicked out of office and publicly FLOGGED, and BANNED FROM EVER SERVING IN A LAW ENFORCEMENT CAPACITY AGAIN.

Boiling right now...

...shooting LABRADORS RETRIVERS, for crying out loud?

I will keep my mouth shut very tightly at this point, because what wants to come out isn’t pretty.

No wonder these Pieces of sh*t wear face masks.

What is the political situation in that area? Is the Mayor a conservative Republican??? Just curious...
I smell set-up too.

Some people think these kind of measures are necessary if we are to win the War on Dogs.

In a country where people have and exercise the right to keep and bear arms in defense of their homes and families, a "dynamic entry" raid of a home by anyone, including law enforcement is a potentially dangerous proposition. The more law enforcement employs and comes to rely on these tactics, the more they will be motived to find ways to restrict and discourage people from exercising that right.

Last I heard, the Corrections Officers on duty have yet to be interviewed by the ‘proper authorities’.

Attempts were made but they refused.

Not that I ever heard of... she was a BATFag (BAT Lezzie???) and it was one of their search and destroy raids, no evil machineguns found. I guess she was just in a bitchy mood because they couldn’t haul someone off to prison for a gun-noncrime.
