Kaczynski in Tbilisi: We are here to take up the fight
Created: 13.08.2008 11:18
Polish President Lech Kaczynski delivered a confrontational speech in support of Georgia at a rally in Tbilisi, Tuesday.
We are here to take up the fight. For the first time in years our eastern neighbours show their true face that we have known for hundreds of years, Kaczynski addressed the crowds gathered at a rally in Tbilisi on Tuesday evening.
They think other nations should be subordinated to them. We say no! That country is Russia, Kaczynski shouted to the applauding crowd.
The Polish President accused Russia of still believing the era of the empire was coming back, and that domination was a characteristic of the region. He explained that many nations had been familiar with that domination which had brought disaster upon all of Europe.
In Kaczynskis assessment, the current situation demanded a sharp reaction.
We are here today so that the world reacts even stronger, in particular the European Union and NATO. Some had thought the Presidents were afraid of coming here. No one was afraid! Everyone came!, Kaczynski continued.
The crowds gathered outside the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi responded enthusiastically to Kaczynskis accusations towards Moscows actions. They shouted, "Poland, Poland, Friendship, Friendship, Georgia, Georgia".
President Lech Kaczynski arrived in Tbilisi late last night and was accompanied by the Presidents and PMs of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine.
Thanks for the info and the pics. I have met a few Eastern Europeans and they all know what the Russians are about. None of us should be surprised at the current events. However, the world has changed and this time Russia won’t be able to just roll over its neighbors.
With the free West all notably siding with the Georgians, perhaps you could have missed this opportunity to piss on your natural allies, some of whom have bled and died for their NATO commitments.
But apparently the little bomb in your brain went off and you couldn't do that thing.
Now if only America would do the same here.
Thanks for posting this. These guys, unlike our mushy-headed libs, lived history and remember it. And they don't want to repeat it.
Georgia only sent 5% of its standing army to help us win in Iraq. I think we can spare a few men to make sure Eastern Europe stays free.
Awesome. Makes me proud I have some polish blood running through my veins. Must be one of the main reasons I have such an allergic reaction to communist B.S..
Hang tough, guys!
“where the H____ are the foppish
British, French and Germans”?
As a fine FReeper once wrote:
“Importing Muslims to temporarily stave off their demographic death-spiral caused by a liberal post-Christian culture and sub-replacement rate of live births”.
The former Soviet oppressed may just be making enough noise to cover our shipments of weaponry to prick the Russian Bear. Time to usher the Ukraine into NATO.
Poland saved Europe from The Bear in 1920, they may have to do it again.
If there’s anybody in the world who knows how the Russians historically operate, it’s the people and the leadership of those six countries (Georgia, Ukraine, the Baltic states, and Poland). Especially Poland.

That one just leaves you speechless...
OUTSTANDING!
so are bush, sarkozy, brown, merkel et al going to do anything,
or are they just going to hang the georgians out to dry?
seems to me if westen oil co’s want to keep operating in the area the governments are going to have to have some back bone.
I cannot be prouder of Polish President Kaczynski and his counterparts from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine for this courageous display of solidarity and resolve. It should put the leaders of Western Europe (and, regrettably, the U.S.) to shame.
Soviet/Russian imperialism and oppression: like the Holocaust, “never again!”
