I have a real problem with the coarsening of society and society devolves not evolves. When you remove restraints, society will degrade. We have had God and morality removed from most of society.

You're making my argument for me. When people expect a government's laws to replace the society's morality they will eventually look to government as their God.

And you're missing the point. Our society has slidden so far down that we have few morals left. Although indecency laws have been on the books for decades, when was the last time anyone cared enough to enforce them? Gays walk around half naked and grabbing themselves in public during "Gay Pride" events and you think indecency laws should be dumped?

Guy, our society has HUGE problems and indecency laws are not one of them.

This has nothing to do with rights, it has everything to do with enforcing civility in public. You do not have the right to be a rude, crude foul mouth in public. I say HooRay for the fire fighter. He did the right thing.

Anyone that advocates criminal penalties for using certain words is the idiot. You see some people are offended and thinks it is crude to talk about mohamed in a negative way, some feel the same way if you utter Jesus Christ name in public.
