Young gun won't be McCain's running mate
Herald Sun ^ | 18 August 2008

YOUNG Indian-American governor of Lousiana, Bobby Jindal, a rising Republican star, has ruled himself out of the race to be the party's vice-presidential pick.

Asked if he would like to be John McCain's running mate, Jindal, 37, told NBC's Meet the Press "No. I've got the job I want."

"I'm voting for Senator McCain. I'll do what I can to help him. I'll do it as good governor. We cut taxes, we're growing jobs, lowest unemployment in 30 years, but we have more work," he said.

Mr Jindal's name has been floated as a possible vice presidential pick as the rumor mill heats up over who will do battle in November's elections alongside both McCain and his Democratic rival Barack Obama.

At 37, the Louisiana governor would offer some balance to McCain's White House bid, as the 72-year-old Arizona senator would be the oldest US president elected to a first-term in office if he wins the polls.

"I don't want to be vice president. I'm not going to be the nominee," Mr Jindal added.

Mr Jindal's name was first mentioned as a possible McCain running mate by influential conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh in March. Limbaugh even described Jindal as the next Ronald Reagan, the icon of US conservatives.

The son of Punjabi immigrants and a social conservative, Mr Jindal has built his political support in Louisiana among Christian conservatives and middle-class whites with his promises to cut taxes, tighten government spending and impose a total ban on abortions.

Hmmm....a young, articulate politician who actually wants to do the job he was elected to do. That is instead of not doing that jobn & overreaching for a higher office he’s [probably] not ready for. How refreshing!

After watching McCain’s latest ad in which he perpetuates one of the biggest lies on the current scene, by bragging that he “went after Big Oil”, I REALLY need some kind of motivation to vote for this moderate Democrat, even over the anti-American, race Marxist

This is the best for Governor Jindal’s future, as well I believe for Louisiana right now.

Hopefully he won’t make anymore mistakes such as the pay raise debacle.

I hope he succeeds in his goals for Louisiana. They need someone with his vision as we needed Tom McClintock here in California.

I REALLY need some kind of motivation...

President Barack Hussein Obama

Vice President Hillary Clinton

Secretary of State John F'in Kerry

Secretary of Defense Tony McPeak

National Security Advisor Weaseley Clark

Motivated yet? See my tagline.

Jindal could take one for the team here, and at no real cost to him politically.

McCain should come out and say that while Jindal is a rising star in American politics, he is, like Obama, too young and inexperienced to assume the mantle of President should he be needed to do so at this time.

Maybe in a few more years of Governing Louisiana he will be well prepared for the challenge.

I love Bobby Jindal, and I wish he’d run for President. This is the kind of leadership this country needs.

God bless him.

I second that about Mark Sanford. He has been a strong conservative governor and is fairly young.

Good. I don’t want him to be VP either.

He has made alot of mistakes and he is as green as Obama. Not a good choice to start with...he needs major seasoning.

A wise move for Jindal. Why settle for VP when he can be the president in a few more years.

See my tagline:

Imagine Commander-in-Chief Barack Hussein Obama... appointing US Supreme Court justices

The brave men and women in our military forces would have to salute their Commander in Chief: President Barack Hussein Obama.

I can't even imagine such a thing...

Governor Jindal made the right decision by staying in Louisiana to take out the trash.

Ray Nagin's buddies are being investigated by the FBI, IRS and several other federal organizations.

I think that Governor Jindal needs to keep state pressure on the New Orleans dirtbags, and he should hit "Ray-Ray" with statewide investigations aplenty.

Governor Palin would be an excellent choice.

I also like LT Governor Steele and Governor Romney.

”The original Maverick” = aisle-crossing, LeftMedia loving, Democrat traitor.

The Maverick has done, and continues to do, deep and lasting damage to the conservative cause in this country.
