From the letter to the DOJ:

Let me be very clear: AIP is not in violation of any federal statute, regulation or other applicable law. This organization, its officers and directors and all those associated with it have taken great pains to comply with all provisions of law applicable to AIP’s activities and programs and will continue to do so at all times in the future.

~~snip~~

The accusations in the Obama Letter against AIP are wholly inaccurate. AIP has made and continues to make every effort to fully comply with all the laws and regulations governing its efforts to engage in protected First Amendment political speech and activities.

Finally, Sen. Obama’s presidential campaign has now purchased paid television advertising directly related to the AIP advertising. Surely, the citizens of America are not in a situation in 2008 where a candidate for President of the United States is permitted to purchase paid advertising on a topic about which a citizens organization, following all applicable laws and regulations, is not allowed to sponsor advertising or if they do will find themselves subject to prosecution by your department.

Surely we have not come to a point where the government and its agencies are used to protect presidential candidates from citizens’ speech, essentially destroying the very purpose, meaning and historical essence of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Not quite yet but just wait until after Obama gets in office. At least thats what he is thinking.

Unfortunately, thanks to McCain-Feingold, we have already started down that path. One can hope that McCain, provided he is elected President, will recognize the dangers of further stifling the rights of a free people to express truthful facts and provide opinion about candidates, including those seeking the highest office in the land.

Obama’s on full offensive because he KNOW’s this could destroy him.

He has LOTS of ghosts in his closet, and they are straining to come out.

Even HINTS of Bush’s UNADMITTED cocaine use were played DAY AFTER DAY, for YEARS...

If you even DARE to say something about Obama’s ADMITTED cocaine use, you are instantly blasted as “Hate”, a “Racist”, or worse...

I’m waiting for NRO’s Kurtz to get to the Obama-Ayers documents that the Univ. of Chicago says are now available. Likely the extent of their relationship will become more evident and harder to disguise as the campaign continues.

Obama is shrewd and ruthless, but very thin-skinned and a poor judge of character.

IIRC, Harry Truman said ‘if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen’.

Team Obama just got served.

This response is crushing to the Obama claims.

Foley & Lardner is a big-league Washington law firm, and the AIP counsel knows these issues forwards and backwards.

This letter will be distributed to all the TV stations Obama tried to intimidate.

I hope that the attempt at arm-twisting and blackmail makes the owners of those stations angry.

Another disaster for the Obama campaign.

Its illegal to inform the tv stations that you are complying with the law? Perhaps that is intimidating to criminals.

Yes, stupid move by John McCain, but I believe the Supreme Court just tossed that part of the law out as unconstitutional.

reporter on FOX has just said they Will not be showing the video

so the question is WHY????

Why can’t FOX show the clip?

So basically the majority of the American voters will never know about this Barack Obama person , or his wife or his associates and friends who will visit the white house and say there.
